Welcome back to Minneapolis Joe! It's been four long years since you last graced us with your wizardry and beautiful music. Far too long!!! What a fantastic show and as always Joe will leave you with your jaw on the floor, a gigantic grin and your ears wanting to hear much more!

Mountain was a good choice as an opening act and Leslie West sounded very good, particularly on the vocals. They played five or six songs including a Jack Bruce song and Bob Dylan cover. Good stuff. [Forgive my ignorance about the Jack Bruce song, Motor Tim]

This was my 3rd time seeing Joe live and the fact that this was a solo show and not a G3 or classic rock band support tour really made it great. He proved once again, that he is one of the absolute greatest guitarists ever. Not that it's a competition or anything. :D

I feel the need to endorse this great artist so forgive me for going off topic and rambling a bit. I have been extremely fortunate at my young age(24) to have seen some tremendous guitarists. Townshend, Beck, B.B.(Twice), Bonamassa(Twice), Di Meola(Twice), Vai, Malmsteen, Mustaine, Randolph, Wylde, Clapton, Joe Walsh, Morse, EVH and Monte Montgomery are among the great players I have had the privilege to have seen live. I LOVE the guitar. Whether it's classical, fusion, prog, blues, metal, instrumental rock, classic rock, experimental or jazz, it's all great to me.

But in my humble opinion, Joe is in a class by himself because of his unbelievable melodicism and stunning command of the instrument. He's the most engaging and magnetic of all the guitarists I've ever seen. Tone, chops, taste, unique phrasing, he's got it all. Another great thing about Joe is that he wears his influences like a hat, whether they are overt or subtle. Yet, he's got a sound that's all his own. But enough of that, let me get back to the performances.

Highlights of the show were "Flying in a Blue Dream", "Cool No. 9", "Time Machine", "One Big Rush" and "Andalusia". But of course like any hardcore Satriani fan, I love everything he plays!!! Out of the three shows I've seen, this was definitely the best I have heard Jeff sound. Very authoritative! It was great to finally see Stu Hamm live. He is such a great bassist. I thought it was so cool that he played "Goin' to California" by Led Zeppelin during his solo spot. Galen was solid as usual and it actually looked like he played a PRS or two throughout the course of the show.

The mix was quite good, but Joe's guitar could have been just a touch louder, particularly during the jam at the end with Leslie West. The new effects pedals sound great. Our seats were awesome. Front row, left balcony(Joe's side of the stage of course!) I was quite hoarse after the show, but I was disappointed that the crowd wasn't more enthusiastic and that it wasn't a complete sell-out. I took a couple of friends with me who are guitar fans but had yet to be intiated by us Satrifanatics. They both loved it and thanked me profusely for inviting them. Go support this master instrumentalist and introduce a friend or two to this once in a lifetime talent. Thanks again Joe for an amazing night!!!!!

This was one of, if not THE best concert I have ever attended! I saw Joe a couple years back at the Chicago house of Blues and due to the "standing room only", missed the majority of the show due to security guards telling me to move. This show was completely different... it was awesome and I was ten rows back, dead center and could see EVERYTHING!

Mountain was awesome and Im one of those "kids who only really knows them from guitar hero" but have now had my eyes opened am going to purchase a few of their albums. Leslie is an amazing player and I would absolutely go see those guys again if they came by themselves!

Satrianis performance was absolutely amazing, allthough as stated before, I wish they would have turned the volume up on his guitar for a few of the songs. During I Just Wanna Rock, I saw a really young kid with his father (the father was obviously the Satch fan here) and right at the solo part of the song, his jaw dropped to the floor and he turned to his dad and I could see him mouth the words "oh my god".... Joe, you have another fan for life!

Flying in a blue dream's intro had me choked up with emotion because that is one of my all time favorites and seeing it live, that loud, in that atmosphere was just a great feeling! Hearing Ghosts for the first time was a plus too! The rest of the show had me with an ear-to-ear smile as they went through all my favorites and threw in a few tracks from the new album too which sounded great in person!

Crowd chant pissed me off because the audience didnt get into it at all. Let me say this, Minneapolis audiences SUCK. Last year I saw Vai and they recorded a DVD of the show to be out in early 09 and im sure they are going to edit out all the audience footage beacuse NO ONE moved or even bobbed their head the slightest bit. This concert had some people moving but as I looked around during the songs, I saw a LOT of people looking like it was a chore to be there listening to the show.

The jam at the end with leslie was great! before their second song, I looked at my girlfriend and mouthed the title to the song before they started and as soon as they started playing she just looked at me like I was the worlds biggest dork for knowing the exact song they would do in their "surprise jam"...

Perfect show, 10/10! Cant wait to see you again Joe!

After reading the reviews posted for this gig I have to wonder what show these people attended??!! And when did everyone become such qualified critics? I enjoyed the show. By bringing Leslie and the boys out on tour he is re-familiarizing fans with one of the most (in my humble opinion) amazing and talented, yet underrated players in rock history. (Again, in my humble opinion) Leslie West engenders the heart and soul of Rock music. That said, so what if they were a little loose at first.....

Joe, as expected is and was amazing that night....but I have to give it up to my man STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU for stealing the show!!! What an incredible talent!! The entire band is superbly talented and it was a treat to see them perform.

That wasn't a Cream cover. That was "Theme From An Imaginary Western," which is a Mountain song that was written by Jack Bruce of Cream.

Mountain, for those of you too young and going "who the hell is mountain", these are the guys from Guitar Hero who play Mississippi Queen. Corky and the boys sounded a bit off during their first song or 2, but pulled together nicely and finished off a great 9 or so song set. Great to see Corky out after his cancer diagnosis a couple years back.

Joe, was in great form. Stu looked happy to playing with him again. Galen looked as always like " dude, i'm playing with one of the greats" and jeff is bangin away in the back. Love the setlist as it has cahanged alot from the past couple years, but still want a few more things from Engines and of course MPGT. I must admit it was the vantage point I had, right side pit row 2, but the sound from the amps and monitors sounded great. The sound out back a couple of rows was a bit center and 15 rows back where some friends were, was a bit more distored, but still was great.

overall 8. only because I want more.

I wasn't impressed with Mountain's sound but Corky Laing and the bass guitarist were entertaining to watch. Mr. West's guitar sounded shrill and at times, he sounded off-tempo. My wife and the couple we were with totally agreed that we didn't like Mountain at all.

Joe's sound was incredibly good, though! Jeff, Stu, and Galen were all impressive in their own rights. They are unbelievably tight. Joe's lightning quick playing never ceases to amaze me. I can't say enough how good they sounded. It was quite loud but without any harshness. Everything sounded great. I was bummed that Joe didn't play Big Bad Moon and that Jeff didn't have a drum solo to speak of. Stu was entertaining and good as always. Galen was more entertaining to watch on this tour since he's was out front on the stage. Great show. I give Joe a 9.5 but Mountain a 5. Overall show = 8. Joe's show at the Medina Ballroom about 6 years ago was better than this one.
