I took my 13 yo son who recently took up the guitar about 7 months ago to the concert. The concert was great, though I wish we had closer seats. Joe’s guitar wizardry would be better appreciated much closer to the stage. I was not that impressed with Mountain. Their performance seemed a bit disjointed to me. During an encore duet with Joe and Leslie, it seemed that Joe was again the teacher and Leslie the student. It seemed out of respect that Joe was holding back a little so as to not embarrass him. Overall though, the concert was great and my son had a chance to see his guitar idol.

*** SPOILERS WITH SET LIST *** Great show, as always! I hadn’t seen Mountain in 35 years! Back when Felix Pappalardi (RIP) was still alive. Corky Laing & Leslie West are still as wacky as ever. Note: If you have seats near the stage- look out for drum sticks! Laing goes thru about 20 a night! And the bass player is pretty loony, too. Great musician, tho'! Here’s their set list- Never In My Life/ Nantucket Sleighride/ Theme From An Imaginary Western/ Blowin' In The Wind (yes, the Dylan song, but HEAVY!)/ Crossroads/ Mississippi Queen Joe was awesome once again! I was bout 20 rows from the stage, but the Chicago Theatre has great sightlines and probably the best sound in town. I thought the crowd was pretty subdued, though they did stand most of the night. I hadn’t seen Joe since 2004, going back to 1988. He has NOT lost a step anywhere! In fact, he seems better than ever! Always good to see Stuuuuu, too! OK, here’ the set list. I *think* it’s about 90% correct. Corrections greatly appreciated. Bootlegs appreciated even more! ;) I Just Wanna Rock/ Overdriver/ Satch Boogie/ Ice 9/ Flying In A Blue Dream/ Ghosts/ Revelation/ Super Colossal/ Cool #9/ One Big Rush/ Time Machine/ Andalusia/ Always With Me, Always With You/ Bass Solo> Going To California/ Surfing With The Alien// Crowd Chant/ Summer Song/ ***** (w/Leslie West) Don't want to spoil the jam, but I did guess it before they played it!
