What a thrill it is to see Joe. I traveled up from Indianapolis (hard to get Joe here), and of course it was well worth it. I stood right infront of his pedals and I was just blown away. Very cool beginning to the second set with Sleepwalk - Starry Night and Morrocan sunset. Great way to work into the last 2 hours of the show. After reading other raving reviews, it just amazes me that he puts out that much energy and emotion for nearly 3 hours night after night. Going Platinum with a friend in Columbus on the 27th. I can't imagine it gets any better than this!

JOE way to kill it again..I was also at the Ann Arbor show and now realize how great the acoustics were in the Michigan Theater compared to the HOB. But the HOB show was great beacuse I could get an up close view of the band rather than being distant in a sit down theater setting. So I'm so glad I got two great experiences. Joe you should consider popping out a live cd of this tour. This tour is just too great to go unrecorded and unreleased. I'm looking forward to the next tour! thanks chip

I suppose I should begin by saying thank you to my incredible wife......everyone who had platinum tix knows this story (she bought me platinum for all 3 Chicago shows!!!!!).....i have been a loyal satch fan since I was 12(28 now)and i have seen him more times than i can count. I have to agree with dement's opinion about joe 50 yrs from now....i keep thinking satch's legacy will be similar to Hendrix. Everyone will see him has a pioneer of sorts. At least for this generation, But the difference is Joe did something Hendrix never had the chance to do......use his talents to the fullest. Joe knows he has a gift, and therefore he takes special care of it. Not destroy it............. anyway now for the review.........all I can say is if you have the chance to try the platinum experience out, GO FOR IT. My sister in law came with me and it was her first time seeing Joe and she was blown away. As for me the best thing I can do is thank john (V.I.P. manager for fan fire) our tour guide on all things satriani :-P. he made the whole thing go so smoothly and gave us fans a chance to get our fill of everything by being patience and cool. the load in for joe ran late so we got to go in while joe was doing his first sound check(OMG!!!) and we went down onto the stage after 10min or so. joe was gone but his guitars were still there and still smokin'. getting to take pictures next to his rack of ibanez masterpieces was the thrill of a lifetime for me. after that they let us practically have the run of the house. we all dispersed to our spots of choice throughout the hall(my sis and i went in front of his mic stand), right before they let the general admission in (man i felt special) . after a 90 wait satch took to the stage with guns blazing. Joe’s set was filled with so many things I have either not heard live in years or never before. Old school songs like hordes of locusts, lords of karma and strange have stood the test of time very well by flowing great with his newer songs from ITLIS. But the song of the night for me was always with me, always with you. My wife and I used it as our first dance at our wedding, and I can’t wait for her to hear his new version of it. It builds into this powerful yet beautiful crescendo. I only wish he had originally recorded it this way. The other song of the night for me was searching. I’ll get into that one more in my review for the third and final show of this trilogy. Afterwards we went up stairs to the platinum meet and greet with Joe, and john told about something I never thought about before. He asked us not to squeeze Joe’s hand when we shake it, because it’s so loose and tender after a 3hr set. Lord knows I don’t want to hurt his money maker, and my source of inspiration…he he. When Joe came up they had us wait in line and brought us up one or two at a time to meet him. When my chance came up I had brought an original copy of silver surfer no.1 for him to sign. When I handed it to him he proceeded to tell me the whole story about how this marvel icon made it to his album cover. If you ever have the chance to meet him, ask him about it. It’s a great story. Joe was so patience with me and my sis in law. he posed for a bunch of pix and joked around with us the whole time…..anyway that’s it for now…..time to write about day number 2 of my satriani experience.

This was my 6th Joe concert and 2nd at HOB in Chicago. This was by far the best concert I ever saw. My 7th show will be in Milw. on Tues..I especially liked the songs he normally does not play in concert-"Traveler", Moroccan Sunset", "Up in the Sky","Lords of Karma". "Searching" was awesome as my favorite from the new album. Joe must have set a Guiness Record for most notes played in a concert. I have never seen anyone play anywhere near as good as Joe. Fifty years from now Joe will be considered the greatest innovator of guitar music and people will wonder why he was not more popular. HOB has great sound as Joe could tell the crowd was into it as he played with alot of feeling and energy.Every note was crystal clear and emphasized to its best. Note: This show was really enhanced WITHOUT the ""Fretless Guitarist" that is opening on some show. I can do without his "meat-grinder" approach to guitaring. ''Evening's With Joe" are the best way to spend your entertainment money. Its too bad he is not taping his shows and selling them afterward as some performers are doing. JOE IS NO. 1

WOW WOW WOW

Thursday night Oct 21 was my first Satch concert.

I agree with Motorhead Tim's appraisal of the concert - great review.

Looking forward to Saturday night's concert - I have platinum tickets.

I brought my son (10) and my cousin (16) to the concert last night - both their first concerts (of any kind) - and loved every minute of it.

Joe - great concert !!

See you in Lansing, Illinois Saturday afternoon at Musiclab - then again that evening.

Thanks for all things Joe.

Well Joe and Co. never stop amazing me. Joe was on fire all night. I was standing at Joe's side of the stage and you could see the intensity in his face as he poured out all his feeling and emotion all over us. Joe is such an inspiration to watch. What amazes me is his total command of the guitar. Joe can do and does what ever he wants when he wants, just complete mastery of his instrument. His sound was incredible, with sustain and feedback perfect all night. Joe felt it to looking at Galen and Matt a couple of times with a this- is -so - cool look on his face. I was glad to see autographed drum heads from Jeff for sale after the show. Well deserved recognition, he's an extremely talented drummer. Matt had this really cool looking electric stand up bass he used in the second set. I was reading other reviews of previous shows and I agree with them all. This is Joe at his best. Joe is playing like he's got something to prove and he does't. This is a must see show don't miss this you'll be very, very sorry.

Wow. Again. After tonight, I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter what songs Joe plays- it’s always gonna be a “10!” Actually, someone earlier mentioned an “11” and I’d have to agree, considering all the songs Joe played that I’d never heard live before! I think this was the 15th time I’ve seen Satch since 1988 and I can’t ever recall a bad show! Highlights? As for rarities, “Hordes Of Locusts,” “Motorcycle Driver,” and “Lords Of Karma” were all incredible! I don’t think I’ve ever heard any of them live before! Several new songs came across great live, too, particularly the explosive, ten-minute-plus “Searching,” along with “Gnaaah,” and “Hands In The Air.” Satch was pretty talkative, explaining the stories behind the songs. Unfortunately, as always at House Of Blues, most of the yuppies talked the entire night so Satch was wasting his breath. Pity. Why do these idiots even go to shows?! The set list was primarily what’s been posted before, but slightly different. Here’s the entire set list, so you don’t have to search ten show reviews like I did! ;) Up In The Sky / House Full Of Bullets / Cool #9 / Gnaaah / Time / Lords Of Karma / If I Could Fly / I Like The Rain / The Traveler / Hordes Of Locusts / Motorcycle Driver / Sleep Walk / INTERMISSION / Starry Night / Moroccan Sunset / Bamboo / Strange / Searching / Hands In The Air / Psycho Monkey / Is There Love In Space? / War / Flying In A Blue Dream / ENCORE / Always With Me, Always With You / Surfing With The Alien. He skipped Satch Boogie in the encore so I don’t know if he’s playing it every night or what. Almost forgot- if you get a chance, check out the drawing on the bass drum head. It's great. Hmm, it reminds me of someone...

*** TWO QUESTIONS *** Does anyone know what Stu’s up to these days? And, two- did Satch have this red guitar on previous tours? I remember ol’ Chrome Boy, but not the red one. ~Tim Shockley

There's no need to add what hasn't already been said by the guys who posted reviews already. To agree: Joe played like he was there to prove something even though he didn't have to - I was amazed as usual, he was tearing the place up one minute and then showing an artist's expert touch minutes later. I'm also sorry to say that too many people spent their time talking instead of taking in what Joe had to say. I'm not sure why they come but I'm just glad I was there. A really fantastic show. I brought a friend who had never seen him live before and she was near speechless afterward. She kept repeating, "That was one of the most incredible shows I've ever seen." I agree with her.
