Vegas was great! I found that the mix was better this time around, especially since I was near the mixing board. Then again, I'm sure not being sick had something to do with that as well. Same setlist as the last couple nights, good energy. Thanks for ending my week on a positive note. :)

Well people, the 'alien' is alive and in our house. Take Cover! Mr Joe Satriani, (from whatever planet that is) is taking no prisoners... If you were there tonite, you saw 'the killer guitar player'...
NOBODY ELSE ON THE PLANET CAN DO WHAT HE DID TONITE. Or what he does, period... Satch is The King... He can play, like no other. He can play anything that anyone in the world can play. And there's no one else in the world playing the way he played tonite. Joe is truly amazing, in every way, as 'the ultimate electric guitar player".He has created some of the sweetest guitar tunes of all time. And has performed them flawlessly over the years. The beauty of the the music that he makes, is the spontaneity of it. He goes in the studio and and lays down the lead guitar over the melody track, first take, and walks out, with these beautiful songs with their sweet solos. Now he must relearn his own creation for performance. That alone can't be an easy chore. considering the way Satch plays.(but I'm sure he pulls it off easily). Now, in a way, it must be a dilemma for him in that, you get to recreate and preserve something that was your own, a moment in time with your guitar. That's a luxury, that we don't all get', sometimes no matter how hard you work or practice. Mostly, l think you need 'the gift', and in the end, that will get you there, if you use it, as Joe has. Everyone in the music industry, a long time ago, knew that, 'this guys got the right idea'. He's played everyday for the last 30 years, minimum, with the right inspiration and a whole lotta Jimi. Well finally, "'Surfin with the Alien'" gets him there. Now, he's gotta go out and play those songs the same way, verbatim, every night. Because, bottom line, the people really don't believe he can do it. I couldn't, really, until l saw it. That didn't leave alot of room for Joe to improvise on many of his early tours. 'We' just wanted to hear him play it the way we hear it, beautiful.. I've seen him 9 times now over 16 years, They've all been amazing. But I've watched him start to give it up alittle more and start to jam .....Well, tonight, he just frickin' gave it up, finally, the way it should be. He's in such a good place right now, His popularity is growing and his music continues to be fresh and free. It's finally giving him the chance to play pure and freely-'live'. And that is what we, everyone, needs to see. The guy is one of top 10 "coolest people" out there. Besides being the "#1 guitarist", one of a kind composer , performer and "sonic searcher". I talked to many people during and after the show and everyone was just blown away or simply, couldn't even find an explanation. Tonight was the baddest, hottest, show you could ever go to! I spoke to and overheard at least 25 conversations about what went on here in Vegas tonite and did not hear a negative word.. It was all good........So, great set list, just kept getting more and more unbelievable. Every song tonite was an original version and It doesn't get any better than that..period. At one point, during "Searching" he went into a little bit from Jimi's "Machine Gun", taking us all on a sonic adventure. Sweeeeet.. Even going so far as to playing his Wha-Wha pedal with his hand, while on his knees... Seemed like every song was a 10 minute excursion/journey from the master/creator. He pulled off a finish to "Always with you, Always with me", that brought down the house.... JOE WAS AWESOME....Smiling and trying to connect with the crowd on a personal level, absolutely playing his songs better than ever...Real musicians give you a little bit of their soul every time they perform.. Tonite Joe was 'Kissing the Sky" while playing extended intros and ending while just burning up the fretboard. I'm starting to think he needs more frets on that neck.. He just got off on the solos and had us all going "how does he just keep playing without his hand falling off... My favorite thing to do is watch Joe Satriani play guitar.....OK, bottom line is: if you were there tonite, YOU UNDERSTAND. lf you've ever seen Joe, YOU UNDERSTAND. and if you have a chance to see him this next week, YOU WILL UNDERSTAND!.............You will then realize what real dedication, disciplin and hard practice can do for you. It's just too bad that 99% of us don't have the gift or talent to ever get to a level, 'all your own'. And that's where Satch stands, on a level plane that's all his own......................Great job tonite boys, it does take all of you to make it happen. I, totally out of nowhere, ran into Joe's "FANTASTIC DRUMMER", Jeff Campatelli in the casino about an hour after the show and he was so cool. l met him about 6 yrs ago in L.A. and we had a chance to drink a brew and he recalled that. Tonite we talked about this tuff tour they are on and what that's like for "ROXTARZ' like them. He told me, straight out. " we keep our energy up & stay focused. If we let anyone down, then we all lose"... I thought that was such a professional, great answer. He's been with Joe for around 15 yrs. And has learned 'how to be' on the road. Jeff's got it down, an A+human being. Then there's Joe..I've met him 3 times too and he is 'pure treasure', a gift to us all. Tonite he absolutely burned the house down, with his guitarz.... How sweet it is!!! Well l think l've said enuff. This was the best concert I've seen from Joe,...or anyone, and I've seen 'em all...........The whole vibe was so nice, Joe was on and we all knew it, It's a beautiful thing. As I said, my favorite thing in life is 'doin' what l did tonite. Still can't think of that planet he's from, it's out there somewhere, where he is. He gave us a real nice taste tonight. I THANK YOU GUYS FOR A KICK-ASS NIGHT.....................JOE, I LUV 'YA BROTHER.............your friend: jimihnrx@yahoo.com

As depressed as I was back in December after flying down from Calgary, Canada to catch my idol in concert for the first time, I was a hundred times as elated after experiencing that surreal concert. I knew it was going to be incredible but I sill wasn't prepared for the brilliance I witnessed. JOE, YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! My friends and I were lucky enough to be able to stand second row on the floor...darn those picks are hard to catch though! Joe sounded incredible, his playing was so powerfull...it is so obvious he puts his all into his performance. Some highlights for me were the EXTREMELY WICKED intro to Cool#9....I had goosebumps, it got me so fired up, Psycho Monkey, Hordes of Locusts, War, Starry Night, and Is There Love In Space? (what a killer melody). I would kill for a live album from this tour....hint, hint. I wish I could have managed to get out to Vancouver to see Joe again, cause I know I won't be able to wait long to catch another live performance.
THANKS JOE FOR AN INCREDIBLE EVENING!!!!!!!!!!
Peace

Thie was my first Joe Satriani concert and it blew my mind it was the greatest concert that I have been to this year and will most likely be the best one. I loved the show it was awsome and it was very long seeing as he played for about 3 hours. I got a pick that he played with which is wierd seeing as this is the third concert I have been to were it was my first time seeing a band and got the lead guitar players pick, but hey its cool. It was cool that I started screaming Joe Joe Joe after he went off stage then everyone in the house started saying it till we all got him to come out and play a couple more songs, I love that he played so many of the songs that I like and his new albumn is awsome I love Bamboo and all of the others. Next time he comes to Phoenix he can count on me to be there he is the best guitar player alive and I think that the people who are in charge of the Grammy awards better take note since Joe deserves it. I was so amazed to see how much he loves the music he plays something I really enjoyed was watching him in ecstacy with the music which is something Im sure all of us do when those notes are hit just right. I got to be up really close to the stage only one person was in front of me and there he was up on the stage, it was so cool. I havent seen anyone with as much talent as he has in him, and it shows how much talent he has when his students also show their talents that they learned from him. If he was still teaching I would have loved for him to be my guitar instructor.

WOW, the BEST Satriani concert I've seen, Joe was ON, he was faster than I've ever seen, strong, great riffs, a nice blend of tunes and just fantastic experience, sound was very good, sat on 300 level great view (except for idiots that got kicked out of their seats in front of us) flew down from Seattle for Joe & R&R, may just have to go to the Paramount on Friday in spite of probable sound system issues at the P. A definate hilite!!! Advance all that is Joe!!

Wow! Joe broke any and all speed records on Saturday night. I loved the extended jams ON EVERY SONG!! The finish he put on Always With Me Always With You was sensational! He rocked that song like I've never seen it rocked. The power chords and the improvised solos were OUTSTANDING! I really appreciated seeing the songs from the new record performed alongside a couple crowd favorites and some less played songs. This was my first concert and it was a beautiful thing.

Hi Joe and Bandmates this is Wendy June and I wanted to take a moment to let you all know what an awesome show you put on at the HOB in Vegas. I was pretty sad when you were ill Joe and had to temporarily cancel 4 months ago. I had been looking forward to your show and after last nights performance you sure are feeling much better. I enjoyed the varied tunes, some old some new and the jams well they were my favorite parts. Unless I am mistaken you didn't play anything from EOC and I missed Borg Sex. I saw you at the Hammerstein in NY on the EOC tour and that was a great show. I have to apologize for what I consider a coma like crowd in Vegas. I am from NY and the crowds in my opinion are just way more expressive than here in Vegas, must be all the transplants..Joe your guitars sang in Vegas and more than anything you are an inspiration. You are truly gifted, and care to give your fans perfection. Please come back soon in 2006. Amongst all the the transparency of Vegas it is nice to have some Satch !! Oh yes and a special thank you to Jeff. Jeff your drumming ability is sadly underated. You amazed many at the HOB as many fans were talking on the way out how awesome you are. Thank you.
Wendy June

What a fabulous evening Joe and the gang put on at the HOB Las Vegas. I had prepared myself by purchasing earplugs beforehand, but I must admit, I only wore them briefly as I didn't want to miss out hearing the full nuance of Joe's incredible tone. The fabulous setlist opened with Up in the Sky and finished with Friends, and in-between it was two-plus hours of rib crackin' guitar rock at it's finest. Many of the songs Joe played had a certain amount of inflection which made a classic seem like an entirely new song. Other songs were: Summer Song, Searching, Lords of Karma, Psycho Monkey, Flying... Surfing... Always... Satch Boogie, Starry Night, and several others. Watching from the second row on the floor was incredible as Joes facial expressions were in full view and it was obvious he was into it as much as the fans were. Overall I give this show a 10 out of 10. Absolutely fantastic.
