Deep Purple playing Space Truckin, My woman from Toyko, Seeing Ian Gillian again with Deep Purple brought back memories of the 70's. Steve Morris was no match to Joe Playing Smoke on the Water. but he tried...Later

My wife and I are making a trip to The Greek everytime Joe plays there, I hope this venue continues. I was a little concerned about his middle spot in the lineup, but I was curious to see the Thin Lizzy resurrection and have always been a big fan of Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs, The Dregs, SMB), so I was hoping he would do some cool stuff with Deep Purple. As usual, I was blown away by Joe's playing--clearly the master virtuoso to both Sykes and Morse. What was the deal with Purple's Smoke on the Water? Morse seemed to be having equipment problems and Joe ended up doing almost all the lead solo work, which worked out great because Joe was really cookin' and ripped some killer runs. This was my 3rd Satch concert and we traveled all the way to Hollywood from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I hope to catch a 'Night With Joe' show later this year too. I thought the set list was OK but lacked many of my favorites (I am especially partial to 'Surfing' which is rarely showcased. I did like all the 'Is There Love in Space' tunes, surprised that it included 'Lifestyle' and 'I Like The Rain' vocal numbers. 'Is There Love...' is a great album and reestablishes Joe Satriani as the world's most progressive, talented, and creative elite guitarist. Thanks for jammin'!
Peace and love,

Joe played for Exactly 60 minutes. Don't know how many people realize what a technician this man is, but when he gets his set down so it's not 59 minutes, it's not 61 minutes, it's exactly 1 hour ... it proves to me how much of a technician he is.
I was surprised by the number of big-time satch hits that I didn't hear this night, or of my favorite songs - heard no mystical potato head, no borg sex, no surfing, did he play ice 9? (I know he played cool #9...)
Anyhow, he ended with Flying In A Blue Dream which is almost everyone's top 3 or 5 favorite JS songs, including mine.

This was a great show! Thin Lizzy was better than I had remembered them though it looked like a Keith Richards Family Reunion onstage. That's OK, I am getting pretty old myself (50). Joe's set was not to be surpassed all evening, he played a good mix of songs off the new album as well as some classics. As usual, Joe was incredible throughout but other standouts of the evening were: *) Galen Henson with an incredibly beautiful tone coming out of a carbon fibre guitar (Emerald?) *) Sizzling cymbal work from Jeff Campitelli on top on the usual superb groove, I can't remember the last time I have seen anything even close to it. *) Awesome bass work from Matt Bissonette, man this guy was just layin it DOWN the whole night. Bonus points for the cool Frank Zappa shirt he was wearing. Who'd have believed we'd have 2 Frank Zappa references in one evening? (Smoke On The Water being the other). Frank isn't dead, he just smells funny .... They brought Thin Lizzy guitarist up for a butt-kicking rendition of the blues classic "Going Down". Man, Jeff Beck would have been jealous if he'd been there to hear it. That was one rockin' good time! What an awesome band, they created The Perfect Wave for Joe to surf. Deep Purple had a good set too though I missed a lot of it due to the Platinum ticket activities (hey, I was there to see Joe & Company!). They brought Joe back up for "Smoke On The Water" and I am running out of superlatives with which to describe the events. If you haven't seen this tour, you owe it to yourself to get a ticket and go. I can assure you that you won't be disappointed. Thanks guys, for a great evening of entertainment! I can hardly wait for the show in San Diego ithis December, Robert Welsh

As always, the show was fantastic. Thin Lizzy was very good. I havn't seen them since the 80's, and was very surprised that John Sykes was playing guitar.
Joe played an awesome set.-- all my favorites from the new album and some old tunes that brought a tear to my eye. I finally got to hear "War" live, and Flying in a Blue Dream is just one I never get tired of. Deep Purple was also great and it's good to see that old guys like me can still rock! The only dissapointment was that I won aftershow passes, but the Greek Theater staff gave us the wrong info about when and where to meet and we never got to meet Joe and the Guys. I did get to meet Joe a couple of years ago and he was a very nice person. Hope to maybe meet him on Newyears Eve in Ventura.
Keep on Rockin',

Saturday night's show at the Greek was just another awsome display of great musicianship! What a great venuue too! Thin Lizzy came out ROCKIN' the start. They were a good warm up act for THE MASTER! SMOKIN' JOE. Satch came out rippin' as usual and seemed to really be lovin' the audience reaction.(like He always does). Awsome!!! What a set. I've seen Joe now at least ten times now and I have never been dissapointed! only wanting more.I took three other friends with me and let me tell you, It was they're first time seeing Joe and they were pretty awe struck by the way Joe and His band played. I finally won two meet & greet passes for back stage and it was just icing on the cake for Me as Joe is one of my favorite artists and surely won of the best axe men EVER! Anyway, Joe was very gracious and soft spoken and it was just a great treat for me! He signed some of my stuff and we took a couple of pictures. He just loves his fans and thats probably why He has such a loyal following. Deep Purple came out Smokin' and played like they were still in their prime! what a show! Steve Morse is truly a gifted guitar player but Joe, well I think he really does talk to the Aliens! Until next time in Anaheim Joe, thanks to all for a great rock-n-roll show.

WOW, what an experience!!!!! The whole evening was something I'll never forget.. THIN LIZZY KICKED ASS, I've been a fan of them for several years now and it was the first time I got to see them live. what a treat.... and then out came Joe and the guys... I've got to let everybody know that I think Joe is the BEST GUITARIST ALIVE. TOTAL EAR CANDY!!!! I've never seen Deep Purple live and after the show last night I've decided that I will see them again!! I'd like to thank Joe, Jeff, Matt, and Galen for a AWESOME AND UNFORGETABLE EVENING!!! A little note for everyone: If you have the opportunity to purchase the premium tickets for one of Joe's shows DO IT!!! We were sitting in row D, and were able to have eye contact with the people on stage, and it only cost $100.00 each, and that came with a t-shirt... next time I will be purchasing the Platinum packages, so that I get a chance to shake hands with Joe!!! Peace to all, Eric

My God, what happened? Joe Satriani has gone nuts. I've never seen him like this. He's running around the stage, jumping up and down, he looks a kid playing his first gig. Not that he ever had the brooding Mr. Kick Ass Guitar Player look before (he's always has such a positive vibe) but he smiles the entire time and looks like he's having a ball. It's great. And LA loves Joe Satriani. Thanks for an awesome show, Joe. And congrats on being able to share that joy with us. I think everybody there last night walked out with a little piece of it.
