I give it an unbiased 10. I have seen all three separately, 4 or 5 times a piece. As far as sound quality goes, I have never heard any of them sound as incredible as I saw last night. Yngwie came on first, he sounded great for a typical single coil strat. (I think single coiled guitars usually sounds like someone is raking their nails against a large fan screen.) Vai had great tone and was a little louder than Yngwie (probably because he had more guitar players, they turned it up a little, and his band is alot tighter than Yngwie's). Then Satch came out with the most incredible monster tone I have ever heard out of a guitar. I think Satch was the loudest observable sound out of all 3. Incredibly clean mid's. More beefy than I've ever heard. Been to this venue several times (Warner Theatre), never sat on the floor. I completely enjoyed Yngwie's set, and he was the showman that I expected him to be, but it just seems that Yngwie has difficulty interacting with other live performers whom aren't on stage for the sole purpose of texturing his performance alone. It's almost like he forgets that he is not on stage by himself. Through his interaction with Joe and Steve (two double coils), his muddy twang was obvious, and his tone was transparent. Strats are great, as long as you do something like Clapton with your amp settings in order to completely counteract the twang. I brought my friend (who was unfamiliar to the solo efforts of Steve Vai) to the show, and he found himself captured by the heart and soul attitude of Steve Vai's performance. He said, "Whispering a Prayer" made him feel like he wanted to cry, and he'd never heard it before. I think you have an old fan, with a renewed sense of admiration, Steve. Thanks for that, and thanks to everyone who was integral in putting on an incredible show!

I had never heard of Joe prior to my attending this concert. I met a man online from Illinois and he was coming to California for vacation. He LOVES Joe so I picked him up at the airport and took him to the beach and then to see Joe. MAN!!!!!!!!! What a great show. I have been to many concerts, bands I love, and have never enjoyed just sitting there listening as I did listening to Joe play. We were seated up high in the balcony yet I still could see his fingers moving, like nothing I have ever seen before. His music is outstanding. I went right out and bought 3 of his cd's and I share them with many, especially my teenagers. I don't want them to miss out on the wonders of Joe. I will be going to see Joe Feb. 5, 2003 in San Diego. I am taking my nephew that just turned 21. He is so excited to see him for the first time and I am ecstatic to have the honor of seeing him once again. Joe you are GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The greatest guitar player ever in my opinion and I tell everyone about you.....Thank You for adding to my life, to my memories. Shauna Baxter Victorville, CA.

Saw Joe the year before at the Wiltern and the sound was great, but this time the guitar was really hard to hear and drowned out by bass. I was with my cousin who is a pro musician and he was bummed out that he couldn't really here what Joe was doing. Maybe it was just a bad night for the sound.

This is the 4th time I have had the pleasure of seeing Joe in concert and it was the best of the four shows. With each album Joe puts out, his selection of songs to play live grows and that is good news for anyone who enjoys some good ol' ass kicking guitar playin'.

Joe, I will see you the next time you play Los Angeles!!!

The show was just flat out AWESOME! It was the first Joe concert for both my wife and I (after having my tickets for Hollywood Bowl cancelled) can truely say that I will never miss his show again! We traveled 110 miles to LA to see it and was not even close to disappointed. We were in the second row just to the right of the stage (126 and 128 BB) but I'm sure he looked and sounded good from anywhere in the theatre! He really had a good mix of songs and a great tempo for the concert. I never heard a mistake.... even when the weird guy ran up onsatge behind Joe, he didn't miss a lick! But what made this show most special to me was 3 realizations. One is that Joe really is a guitar god! Watching him was a true jaw dropper. Two was that Joe really loves his fans, like I said about the weird guy on stage and the guy hopping around the orchastra section... he just smiled and went on like "that's cool man, enjoy yourself." And the third is just that Joe is plain nice. My wife and I waited 2 hours to get an autograph from Joe. I got it, but not just anywhere... He signed my black Ibanez Joe Satriani signature series JS100 for me and posed for the photo while signing it. Everyone that wanted something signed got it. He talked a little and was just way nice! Joe if you read this... thank you for taking the time to put on a great show. For the rest of you... I urge you to get your tickets!

I thought it was THE BEST show that I have seen in a long, long time. I was lucky enough to see Joe @ the Hollywood Bowl in '95 for the G3 tour and it was excellent but, this show was the "BOMB". Joe had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish!!! I was seated in the back of the theatre but, the level at which Joe played was excellent!!! I do not know who Joe can do a show like this every night and still be able to give 110% of himself?? It is truely mindnumbing... I want to thank Joe for giving me a night that I will long remember. I will see you again on 15/MAY @ The Sun in ANAHEIM!!!!!

I had a great time. This gig was the introduction to Joe Satriani, I was front row center. The best seats ever. My favorite part of the gig was when Joe played Rowena. What a great tribute to the love of your life. I was disappointed when a mob collected at the front of the stage and blocked my view of the second half of the show. Another highlight was when the enebriated Mr. Disco was escorted off the stage. I GOT a PICK! I'm hooked, I'll be at the gig at the Sun Theatre in Anehiem.

Although that was my first concert I've ever been to, I have to say that I probably wont see anything that will top that. (Except maybe seeing him sitting front row, with a guest appearence from Metallica!) Great performance, a must see for anybody that knows what good music is all about!

We're a couple of lucky so & so's who managed to walk up and sit directly in front of Joe all night. It's all so unreal. Never sat front row at a concert in my life, and to sit in front of Satriani? I figured my time here was done. Joe is god-like, and just damn cool to boot. Watching him play is (besides jaw-dropping) just fantastic, and even more so since he just looks like he's having a ball. I've been a die hard since N.O.T.E. blew me away, and every step of the way I've been consistently knocked out.

Joe, thanks for a truly awe-inspiring night - you're just really great, and tell Jeff that Pam said thank you for the drumstick.

Peace, Jake

Of course Joe's playing was stellar. The sound at the Wilter Theater was probably the best sound I've heard at a Satriani concert, although I think the rythym guitar could've been louder, because a lot of times that's what really give the song its drive. The song selection was great, really varied with bits from almost his entire catalog. I just think the whole thing is a little too polished and predictable. With the killer lineup Joe has, I find it a disappointment that they don't do much impromptu jamming. Its a very cookie cutter set with little room to jam. I guess Joe's just trying to please his newest fans by playing all the hits, but those of us who have seen him play live for the last 10 years want and deserve more. Why can't they set aside 20 minutes and just go for it? And the Stu Hamm solo has definitely lost its novelty, cmon, come up with something new already. Joe's definitely gone corporate, play what they expect and you will be paid well.

I went to the Joe Satriani show Saturday night expecting the best thing i had ever seen. I came out the first half dissapointed. His guitar playing was inaudible over all the other instruments which put my hopes down. THe songs were great, but without the guitar it was less appreciating. For all I know it may have been where i was sitting, on the very right end 17 rows back, but I don't think it would have mattered. So I came back the second half expecting to even more dissapointed. Boy was I wrong! The second half was the coolest thing I've ever seen. THe songs were awesome, the guitar playing was fixed a bit, the lighting effects were a good source of enlightenment, and the bass solo by Stu hamm was too good to be put into words. Seeing Satriani play was like my dream come true. It just made me feel like an amateur all over again. The rhythm section was great, eric and Jeff keeping everything in line, although I was expecting to see a drum solo, he seemed the type to do it. THe first encore with Joe playing surfing with the Alien made the night for me. THe drunk guy who hopped on stage was an added bonus, too. While I kick myself for leaving after the first encore and missing the second, I gotta admit, it kicked ass. I just hope it will all be in line the next time I see him as to make it the absolute best. Thanks for your influence, Joe.

John says Joe is God. John says he worships Joe. John says there is no better show ever in the whole world. John says Joe's fingers move faster than the speed of light. John says the stuff Joe does just isn't human. I really enjoyed the show. I think Joe is incredible. I think John is spun. P.S. Stu Hamm rules! We can't wait to see them in our home town of San Diego.

That had to be the best concert ever staged in los angeles! One thing I love about Joe is that he always brings out the best audio and lighting guys in the business. Thanks for playing all my favorite songs and doing it better than on the album, I hope that you are recording the shows on this tour to make a live album. The Wiltern gig would be perfect for a live album There wasnt one thing that wasnt perfect from the playing to the sound to the lighting to the size of the crowd everything was great. Accept for the guy all messed up on acid jumping up and down behind me and kicking my chair, other than that perfect. thanks, Devin

WOW! You are the best, Joe and a consumate professional. It is amazing to see your mastery of the guitar continue to blossom. The nuances of you style, your control of feedback from the guitar--the fact you can play so close to the studio version, blew my socks off. Incredible energy, tight band backing you up. Jeff was going off on the drums, Stu was incredible on bass (the Snoopy riffs during his solo), the rythm guitar and synth....WOW! Thanks to you all for a fantastic and memorable evening. Have been a HUGE fan since 86-87's Not of This Earth album and this was my first time seeing you live (shame on me).I was celebrating a special moment in my life, 7 years clean and sober. What a way to celebrate!

I have been a fan from the age of 12(I am now 24). Joe doesn't cease to amaze me. This is my 4th time seeing Joe. This was a great Venue for Joe. He sounded great, and it was great to see Stu and Jeff, they were tight as always. Eric was a nice addition. It has been really cool to see Joe grow musically, and I will continue to support Joe until the end of his great career (hopefully he has no plans of retiring soon). I brought my girlfriend to the concert and she loved it. We'll see you next time around JOE. Thanks for making great music that filled, and continues to fill, my adolescence.

This was our 2nd time seeing joe AWESOME , couple things different though 1st-crystal planet tour thousand oaks ,CA we were sixth row which is nice but not as nice as FRONT ROW CENTER at the wiltern (eat your heart out) the music was louder the fans were really fans (unlike some stuck-up folks at T.O.) and the set list was incredible we were high and just kept going higher and higher we heard most of our fav's (except new blues?-lucky franciscans) but really jow was incredible and still at the top of the game i was really excited when i saw the line up stu . . . what can i say have you ever seen anybody play the bass like that ???? and jeff really keeps the groove and eric (seems a little shy?) but the guy really has the goods , but joe . . . what can i say , i think you really are the alien !!! peggy (my girl) sends thanks for ceremony (her fav) and thanks for noticing her and throwing the pick exactly where she was (after all she was the loudest in the crowd!!!) the pick of course is in THE box.

Wow Joe really outdid himself that night! So did Stu! That had to be the coolest bass solo I've ever seen! I wonder what Joe was thinking when that drunk fan got up on stage and was hopping around until the security dragged him off. I just wish he would have had a guest apperance like he did for the Crystal Planet tour. Oh well, it was still a marvelous show! Good job Joe.

There are no words in the English language to describe last nights performance. To say it was incredible, awesome, amazing, just touches on the surface of the experience. I have gone to a lot of concerts, this one was by far the BEST. The sound was perfect, Joe was perfect. Flying In A Blue Dream, Surfing, Love Thing, Summer Song and Always With You Always With Me were my favorites, although the intire near 3 hours was a favorite. My ears have never heard such a clear, perfect sound. Maybe this is what heaven sounds like.

Joe played at his best and his showmanship made the crowd go wild. He showed all present that he is the greatest guitarist today. Stu's bass solo was great also. The band sounded great with Eric. His playing made the sound more full and seemed to let Joe just relax and play with less tension. After the show Joe and the whole band signed autographs and took pictures with everyone who wanted one. Joe you are awsome!

Well, most below have already said it: the show was standard Joe (in other words, simply incredible!). We all know Joe can play with superhuman speed and jaw-dropping skill, but what always amazes me the most is the TONE. The way he gently coaxes those beautiful harmonics out of his guitar simply amazes me every time and gives me goosebumps. Song selection was great - many of the standard "hits" that you can expect at a Satriani concert, plus a few more treats. Down, Down, Down after the break was amazing, as was Clouds Race Across The Sky. The other new songs (Devil's Slide, Borg Sex and Until We Say Goodbye) sounded great played by the band in a live setting. Hopefully we'll get to hear more from Engines (especially Flavor Crystal 7!) as the tour goes on. The only other thing missing was a selection or two from Time Machine (I keep hoping to hear the title track live someday). Those are but minor complaints, as I really can't complain at all. Joe and the guys played solid and tight for well over 2 1/2 hours with 2 encores. You can't ask for more than that! Still, I left the show wanting more (who wouldn't after that?)... can't wait for tonight in Vegas!

This was definately the best selections of Satch songs he has ever done on tour. Hordes of Locusts-amazing. Some other selections - Big Bad Moon, Ice 9, Surfin, Cool #9, Potato Head, Time, Rubina, Friends, Crush of Love, Flyin. Too many to list all - a three hour show with a 20 minute break and two encores. The new material sounded great, Devil's Slide, Borg Sex and especially Until We Say Goodbye. The mix was incredible - never heard Satch sound any better. Great show

8.5, maybe a 9... It was long, and the new tunes were interspersed quite well, no loss of momentum, just a well-paced show. The intermission worked out well, Summer Song to send us out. After the break, more unadulterated Joe!!!! Sound just off stage right a bit muddy, but that was the only downer, bound to happen sometimes... JOE IS ALIVE AND WELL, AND LIVING IN A TOWN NEAR YOU SOON!!!!!!!

Only one word can describe tonights show -- Unbelievable. From the opening of Time to the last song Rubina, the whole band was extremely tight. There were so many highlights, both Eric and Joe alternating guitar sections on Borg Sex, Stu's incredible solo, Joe's excellent performance and clarity. Every song sounded so good, even after playing for over 2 1/2 hours, I wanted more. Well, this was an incredible experiece, Ill be back May 15 at the Sun Theater for a double dose of Satch.
