What can I say, But Mr.Satriani was at his best! Delecatly bending the string like only he can. This was my second chance to see the master at work, the 1st was at the warehouse in Toronto. The first time I saw him I thought nothing could top this. Then came Massey Hall in Toronto! This made the Warehouse show sound like a tin box.(nothing against Joe, the sound there isn't the greatest)

Well this is just one person's point of view.

Keep the sweet sounds coming!! And thank you for touching all of us with you music!!!

The good: The band was great. Joe played perfectly, he is fantastic. An amazing treat to see the original JS-1 chrome boy and another JS guitar. That man has fingers that move like mallets, powered by a jet engine. Plays so effortlessly, his hands and fingers just flutter over the guitar. A true jedi master. The force is very strong with him. Choice of songs: excellent. By the way this is my First ever rock concert in life. (only seen two classical before). The lighting effects were excellent. The sound: Guitar sound was great, however, I had to use my ear plugs because that Boss DS-1 has a very charateristic shrill high pitched noise sound just hanging there at times when the volume and distortion were high. I did not notice anyone else having problems with ears or earplugs. Great show. Stu Hamm's solo was excellent, he got a standing ovation. you wont believe what he did. I did not know that bass could do this. About 3 hours with 15 minute break. song after song....I actually can't explain much. you have to see for yourself. It is amazing to see characteristic Joe Satriani guitar "techiniques" and "stunts". A must see for guitarists and guitar lovers. The bad news: I did not have a good seat. Joe played way Close to my side of the stage, almost hid under the gallery/balcony whatever you call it. The ledge with seats on it-ha ha. Overall: Excellent.

Well what else can I say. The show was amazing! Earlier in the day I was out searching for a job with a good friend of mine. After handing out a few resumes we came across a bar and decided to have a cold one. Well as the story goes one turned into another and another and another...etc. Next thing you know we're both pissed drunk. I asked the waitress what time it was and she said it was 6 o'clock. I was like "oh shit I got a Joe Satriani concert to go to at 8 o'clock" My friend and the waitress are like " Joe who? " I said " what you've never heard of Joe Satriani, you people make me sick"." Joe Satriani Guitarist Extrordiare thats who Well my friend asked me how many tickets I had I said I had two. Then he asked me who was going with me I said I was going to take my brother, but I noticed that the tickets said adult somewhere on them, and I remember that at the Steve Vai concert a couple of people weren't let in because they didn't have I.D. on them.So I said to my friend I would take him because I didn't want them refusing my brother, and having me stuck with a ticket to scalp. One big problem we were at the corner of Markham and Finch, the tickets were at my house, the concert was at Massey Hall, and we had to take the TTC. I called up my brother and told him to meet us at Victoria Park station. We grabbed the tickets off him a headed for Massey Hall. By the time we got off at Dundas station it was 5 min to 8o'clock. A quick stop at Taco Bell and we arrived at 2min After 8o'clock. To my dissappointment the concert had already begun. Which was new to me because most concerts don't start at the time they say on the ticket. Oh well! I only missed half a song. It was Probably the best $60 I spent in my life. Too bad my brother did't come. I guess teenagers were allowed after all. Not only that I actually stole/borrowed the money off him to buy the tickets in March when I saw the ad in the paper. As for my friend.I caught him pumpin to the groove on a few occassions. The bass solo rocked. Joe made me want to go home and throw my guitar off my balcony. The only complaints I have are: would/could it have been any better if it were a 4-piece, and he didn't play CRUSHING DAY, which is a wicked song.

Great Hall for Joe to play in but his sidekick rhythm man was missing in action. He started to tell the story how he couldn’t cross the border but forgot to tell the rest of the story. Oh well. And he actually sang this time!

Absolutely amazing show!!! Hope Joe comes to Canada more often. The atmosphere and sound of the concert was great. It was even better than the album feel. Being a bass player myself I was most impressed with Stu Hamm. His bass solo at the end of "Love Thing" was the icing on the cake. I have never been so amazed with playing like that in my entire life. His mix of pulsating bass lines and rhythm(yes rhythm on the bass!!!) makes him in my opinion, one of the greatest bass players today, if not of all time. Would recommend seeing all of this as soon as you can. I know I will be!!! Joe, come to Canada again, we love ya!! MAKE SURE TO BRING STUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!

Well All I Can Say Is "Unbelievable"! Joe you are Awesome!! This was my 6th time seeing Joe play live and I find it remarkable that each time I see him, he is a better player. This show was pulled off without a hitch & the keyboardist didn't even make it across the boarder. 10 out of 10!

I had the fortune of meeting Joe a few years back at a small club called the Opera House (Toronto). As nice as I thought Joe was going to be, I found he was ten times that. He took the time to sign my guitar and even posed for a few pics with me. Before the end of the night I had a good laugh when Joe's keyboardist asked my mother out on a date! Very Cool. How many people can say that!

I currently play in a band called Ebony Run and I find it amazing the amount of inspiration I leave a JS concert with.

Thanks for an incredible show Joe!!

Sincerely, Chris M.

P.S. Maybe next time your in Toronto you could put "Home" into the set. I'd love to see it live.

I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS SHOW HIGHER THAN A TEN BECAUSE IT TOTALLY DESERVED IT. THIS IS A VERY LATE POST I DONT KNOW WHY I DIDNT DO IT BEFORE I GUESS I JUST FORGOT. THIS SHOW BLEW ME AWAY I WAS IN HEAVEN I HAD A HUGE SMILE ON MY FACE FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END. THE BASS SOLO WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING IVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING THAT AMAZING, IT MADE FLEA LOOK LIKE HES ONLY BEEN PLAYING FOR A WEEK. I CAN SAY THE ONLY THING I WAS DISSAPOINTED IN WAS THE FACT THAT YOU DIDNT PLAY A SINGLE SONG OFF OF TIME MACHINE, OR AT LEAST THE STUDIO CD. TIME MACHINE HAS SOOO MANY AMAZING SONGS ON IT LIKE "TIME MACHINE" "THINKING OF YOU" SPEED OF LIGHT" "BAROQUE" AND SO ON. ANOTHER SONG I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HEAR WAS "UP IN THE SKY" THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AMAZING TO HEAR. I CANT REALLY PUT IT INTO WORDS HOW HAPPY AND IMPRESSED I WAS AT THIS SHOW, ALL I CAN SAY IS THIS WAS AND IM SURE ALWAYS BE THE BEST CONCERT IVE EVER SEEN ( AND IVE SEEN QUITE A FEW). THANKS ALOT.

I actually didn't see the show but heard it from outside Massey Hall while waiting for my son and his friend (the two young guys with the shaved heads and Satch glasses-second row center). After the show, they anxiously waited by the tour bus for autographs.I was amazed at Joe's down to earth demeanor taking time for pictures, autographs and chatting to fans after a 3 hour show. When my son and his friend met Joe he took off his hood and cap and posed between the thrilled, young, bald headed fans.>>>Joe Satriani...very talented and sincerely appreciative of his fans.<<<

Excellent show eventhough Eric was stopped at the border - it was the old 3 piece like it used to be. Made me think of what it would have sounded like with a rhythm guitarist/keyboardist. I also wonder if there were tunes they just didn't play because of it. It was a 3 hour show that just kicked my ass - but it inspired me to go home and pick up the guitar and get to work! I've seen most of his shows since Surfing and it is very obvious he is just getting better. His writing and playing are always improving - making him one of the most innovative guitarists of this generation.

First Joe show, also first time in Canada. I live between Buffalo and Rochester NY, and I took a wrong turn on the Gardnier Expressway and flipped out (I AM NOT MISSING THIS SHOW!!) Well, I ended up being 20 min late to the show. But when I heard "The Crush of Love" I felt chills... Finally being able to see the stage after being lead to my seat... It was stunned... Seeing Joe with the chrome boy with electricity flowing throughout the air... I would have walked the 150miles to see the show. It was unbelievable. After the show, I purchased Engines of Creation (with bonus Cd) to complete my set. You rock Joe! It would be great if you released a live disc of a compilation of this tour. I watched the "Electric Factory" webcast last night, It was just like being at the show again (I was even taking pictures of my computer screen since I didn't bring my camera last time) Stu Hamm, rock on! You played the best bass solo I have ever heard. Looking forward to your new album. Hope you guys swing by Buffalo, Rochester, or Six Flags over Darien Lake, on your next tour. Take Care!!!

AMAZING SHOW JOE!!!!!!!!!. thanks so much for the backstage passes, it was awesome meeting you and Jeff. too bad Stu wasn't feeling well.Incredible sound and light show, but nothing compared to your musicianship.Joe, you said Eric was not allowed to cross the border because Canada customs didn't like the look of his French passport! I thought we let anyone into Canada?.Thanks for the autographs and allowing me to take pictures, you guys are true gentlemen. You mentioned a possible G3 tour this fall!! don't forget us here in TORONTO.anyway you are the world's premier guitarist, you wear the crown, and nobody's ever going to top you. So, what did happen to Eric, Joe? you never did tell us. You played so many of my favourite tunes; I was in heaven. Absolutley fabulous show and hard wok on everyone part. Suggestion; you stated you wanted to balance things out ("the craziness") with a slower paced tune. THEY ARE MY FAVOURITE TUNES!! Play more of them, not less. Thanks for the memories and hope to see you again at Massey hall. (a much better venue than the Guvernment. Regards, Mike

Well, what can I say but WOW!!! That was my first time seeing Satch live and it was worth the 3 hour drive. My brother flew up from Winnipeg for the concert and he loved it too! It was a phenomenal performance even if they didn't have Eric Caudieux with them. Stu Hamm's bass solo was the most incredible thing I have ever seen a bass player do!!! Kudos to Satch, Stu, and Jeff for a job well done... Hope to see you guys in Canada soon.

Thanks Joe for being the catalyst to an experience I'll never forget. You were unbelievable, and so perfect! I know as a fledgling girl guitarist I will never ever come remotely close to your talent... but you will always be the driving force, and the affirmation to all guitarists that it is possible for a human being to move fingers with such speed and perfection...and your bass player wasn't bad either.... Please if you do the G-3 tour bring it to Toronto so I can witness your beauty once again. Thanks Again, Micha (Jean)

Couldn't believe my ears and I couldnt believe my eyes. It was the best show I've ever seen in my life.Everything was just perfect. Joe looks like an alien and I believe he is, becouse his playing is not from this earth. There is no other guitar player like him in this planet and the other planets for that mater. Stu and Jeff were also great and this trio sounds beter than any other band that I ever seen. It's to bad that Eric couldnt make it, maybe next time. God bless you Joe.

This wasn't my first time seeing Joe perform live- two years ago he played at the Guvernment Club. Hated the venue- a club, no seats, no tables, just a lotof tall people, and short little me. Plus the opening act sucked. But Joe? Rocked. Stu? Walked on water. Jeff? Played like a monster-god. Massey Hall was the perfect spot for the band. It's a Victorian jewel of a concert hall, with gleaming accoustics, andno seat (not even in the upper gallery, where we were) is a bad one.</P>

Everybody else has summed it up- there's nobody else on earth who can play like Joe. He can get everthing from a regretful sigh, to a sexy snarl, to a scream of rage from that silver guitar- and all in the same bar. The rhythm section surged along, mightywave of beat pushing along under the guitar. I wish the bass had been more prominent in the mix-Stu was easier to worhip two years ago. We wish that Joe had got round to telling the story about what happened to Eric at the border. The irony was that a couple weeks ago, spotting theroad sked posted here, I was amused to note that "no foreign dates are confirmed"... well, Canada IS a foreign country to AMerica, eh?</P> The light show was *amazing*... lights were the fifth member of the band. Oh, wait.. last night, make that fourth and fifth.

Time flew. I love to hear the music and watch it being made. Love the new stuff, all my old favourites too. And here's what's really great about Joe... he strikes me as not just a really nice guy whohappens to be frighteningly talented, but he seems to be genuinely grateful to be doing what he loves best, and that there's fans all over the world who love his work and pay to come see him. It'slike he loves it so much you just know that if he was a plumber, he'd still be wailing away in his basement each and every weekend. All thisand no visible signs of Rock Star Attitude- he juststrolls out onstage with zero fanfare, takes a guitar from a tech, and starts playing.</P>

Beautiful.

Great show, great band, great tunes...Stu was too low in the mix though(except for the solo of course!!!). I'm not the biggest Satch fan, though I would like to get a set list, cause there were some really, really good songs being pumped out, more specifically what was the song that segued into the bass solo, that was incredible. PS Where are the MP#'s of the Stu album?

Hey Joe! Once again another killer show!! I was looking forward to seeing Eric and see what he was about with the keys and all, but it was still awesome just the 3 of you. I would however be curious to hear one live track from your tour with eric so that the torontonians can hear what he would have been playing. Playing at Massey Hall was a great idea! The sound was amazing! It brought back memories from when I first saw you on the Extremist tour there. Far better sounding than the Guvernment. Thanks for signing my CD jacket and taking a pic with me. Cheers! Kevin

WELL JOE!!! THIS NUMBER (10) DESCRIBES WHAT I THOUGHT OF THE CONCERT, BUT IN ACTUAL FACT, YOU ARE #1 IN MY BOOKS... AS I STATED BEFORE ON THE "TALK TO JOE" SECTION, ONE WORD DESCRIBES WHAT I THOUGHT OF THE CONCERT..........."FLAWLESS" (NOT TAKING ANYTHING AWAY FROM ERIC).. STILL IT WAS TOO BAD THAT HE COULDN'T MAKE IT!!!!!!! THANX TO JOE AND THE BAND FOR PUTTING ON ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I'VE SEEN IN RECENT HISTORY!!!!!!! !!!THE THREESOME ROCKED THE PLACE DOWN, ERIC COULD HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE, PLAYING RHYTHM GUITAR, BUT STU PULLED IT OFF ON THE BASS, I GUESS STU WASN'T FEELING WELL...MOST OF THE TIME HE LOOKED SICK TO HIS STOMACH, BUT HE STILL HAD GOOD SPIRITS!! Joe Satriani is not human. No human being can hit that many notes in so many variations with no mistakes. Flying all over the fretboard with extreme precision and accuracy, displaying awesome control of the wah pedal and feedback, and filling Massey hall with incredible sonic tapestry - Satch is phenomenal. This was the first show I've seen at Massey hall and what an experience. I thought having seats on the floor, at the back, under the balcony would be horrible - the sound was incredible! This is one show I'm glad I didn't miss.

I enjoyed the show immensely last evening at Massey Hall. I was scanning the local Ticketmaster website a number of weeks ago and noticed this concert posted. I purchased a ticket more out of curiosity than anything else. I own a couple of the earlier albums and I must admit I have not played either of them for 2 or 3 years. Deft was the first word that came to mind when I watched Joe play the first tune. I enjoyed being part of the audience and at times I studied their reactions to certain parts of the show. I am willing to bet my favourite hat that at least 1/3 of the audience were guitarists of varying skill levels. Anyways, I am rambling on here as usual! Great show. I will definitely attend the next time the band hits Toronto again. PS. I wonder what the show would have been like with the other guitarist/keyboardist PSS. Hey Joe, you promised to tell us what happened at the border crossing!

Up until two years ago, I lived in New Brunswick and never thought I'd see Joe perform live. Then I moved to Ontario and found out I'd missed him the month before in a city half-an-hour from where I lived. Well, I just saw my first Satch concert last night and boy was I impressed! Eric Cadieux was not there (Joe said he got stuck at the border) so it might have sounded quite different with him there. I look forward to the next time I go so I can see him, too. Well, I gave this concert a ranking of ten and somehow that doesn't seem high enough. They played twenty-six songs with lots of added riffs and such (which is one of the chief reasons to see Joe live) and the icing on the cake was Stu's solo. My appreciation of him has increased ten-fold. He was amazing! And not only the solo; he was playing his bass like he was the rhythm guitarist at times! Wow! I can't wait until they come back to Toronto and maybe in the meantime, I'll try to catch a concert in Detroit or something. To all those going to see a show in the future; enjoy!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWW! This is the first time I've seen Joe live, and it was the best concert I've ever been to. and I've been to quite a lot of them. The show was in th small theatre, so the atmosphere wa really coo, with kind of a private feeling. Joe's playing? It would be offensive if I'd use the words, let's live it at that. When you see this Guys show, world suddenly seems like a nicer place!

What a show. I was so happy to be at Massey Hall last night. Hey Joe..I was the crazy blonde guy with a white shirt on screaming.Joe had done a wonderful performance, as well as Jeff on the drums, and Stu---killer bass solo man! Bach to the Banjo! Its to bad Eric couldn't cross the border.....you said you would explain why, I guess you forgot. Oh well, I really enjoyed Down, Down, Down, during the intermission. I have a question though, I had bought 2 T-shirts (the white one and the long sleeve) Online it said that we could recieve a copy of "Additional Creations EP." The T-shirt lady said she didn't have any. I was so dissapointed. I was really hoping for that ep. When I bought Engines, (the exact day of release) The record store said they didn't recieve any. If there is a way to get one, could you send one up to me, I'd be happy to pay for shipping or any additional charges. Thanks...

(Thats why I gave the concert a 9 :) )

Awesome performances by all.

That was thee best show me and my brother have ever seen in our lives, we were front row and to the left of the stage where Mr. Satriani himself constantly stands to use his wah-wah and sing and play for his fans. This was the best show, even compared to the Steve Vai show I saw just this past November at the Guverment. Joe has the best chops in the world, and his showmanship kicks serious butt. It was never disclosed why Eric Cadieux didn't quite make it over the US border earlier on today? so the whole show was done sans Eric. But what a show they put on. Stu Hamms bass solo was a killer it rocked the whole place down to its very fibres. Les Claypool look out cause here comes Stu!!!!!!!!!! Joe as I can only imagine was impecable and played his solo's and talked to the crowd like each and every one of us were his closest friend. I was in the front in a Trent University hat, wearing the white T-shirt for the concert! Wow you guys rock! I will come and see you three any time you make it back into Toronto baby! Yeah! I think a G3 would rock too. way to go Joe Stui and Jeff campitelli, who was solid man absolutely rockin' on those sweet sweet drums of his. best wishes on other tour dates. but there is only One Toronot Massey Hall, and we had THEE best show ever! love to you all. Regardless, you, Stu and Jeff quickly made me forget my disappointment. Hat's off to the two kids 2nd row centre for their shaved heads and Satch sunglasses. Come back soon. Regards, Jay
