From a long time fan, literally from surfing to shockwave, who has seen Satriani live at least a dozen times...Does Joe ever have an off night? Joe ripped through several classics, keeping them fresh with his stream of conscience playing style. Cataclysmic and On Peregrine Wings from the new album were two of the heaviest, most hard hitting songs of the night. Highlights for me: Seeing "If I could fly" live. Mike Keneally on keys and guitar, his talents take Joe's live shows to another level. The photo history of Joe's career during a song near the end of the show was really cool. Actually standing for the encore (Big bad moon and Surfing with the alien), I'll never get used to sitting on my &$$ watching Joe live. One minor critic: Although Surfing with the Alien is arguably one of the best Satriani songs ever, it's way past the time to move it and Satch Boogie off the set list.

Maybe I'm a little biased, as this is my first Satch show and my 3rd ever concert, as well as my first in a small venue, but I can't think of anything negative to say about this show! The meet & greet went relatively smoothly and quickly, the staff was courteous, and the show itself started around 8:00 as posted. I've seen a number of reviews for this tour that blame the sound engineer for making the music too loud; I was 4 rows from the front of the theater and I found the levels to be fine; I still have my hearing this morning. This is a rock concert after all; it's supposed to be loud! Joe, Marco, Brian and Mike were phenomenal, although as a note to the sound engineer it did seem like Mike's playing was being overpowered by everybody else. The set list covers most of Joe's popular pieces as well as mixing in some of his newer album and a few older, more obscure songs. All in all, I can't find a fault in my experience. 10/10!
