It's a shame that the scale only goes to 10....

This was the first show I had seen live since Joe played the Arizona State Fair back in '88. Needless to say, the wait was worth it.

The setlist was crazy - Hordes of Locusts? Crystal Planet? War? - Hell, after that I could have gone home! Some of Joe's best music interlaced with new stuff from BSWW, it was absolutely amazing. One of the great things about seeing Joe live is that the stage performance is as good if not better than the studio, in my opinion. Sound was great, tuning was fantastic, everything was well done.

Loved the venue - my girlfriend and I were right in the middle and had a grand view of everything.

Needless to say, being the winner of the Aftershow passes and having the opportunity to meet Joe after the concert was simply incredible. Joe was really nice, spent about ten minutes talking to us and signing autographs. When I mentioned that it it had been 22 years since I saw him perform live last, he laughed and said "You need to come more often!".

I doubt that I could ever top this experience.

well ... everyone has his ups and downs - and this one was a down :-(

I started visiting Joes shows back in '93 (haven't missed a tour in germany eversince) and I have to say that this was the worst I have seen so far.
Don't get me wrong here. It wasn't bad at all (I don't think a Satriani show can be bad) but he has done significantly better.

Drawbacks:
- rhythm guitar was too low on volume
- to my ears the Marshalls give a "too edgy" and harsh sound - I preferred the Peaveys
- a few noticable "hanging moments" in Joes play (with his other shows so far being close to perfect ! - Yes, I know that he's human and humans make mistakes ... that's what I'm saying ;-) )
- great bass player but NOT STUUUUUUU (it was funny seeing him use that many upstrokes though ;-) ) !
- please - PLEASE - not that much keyboard !!! (looking in the face of a bored rhythm guitar player showed me that I wasn't the only one thinking that !!!)
- everybody knows that there will be 1 or 2 enchorsongs but a roady putting a new mic on stage right after leaving is just saying: "we don't care whether you clap your hands or not - we play those songs no matter if you want them :-P! "

on the up side (apart from it being a Satch gig ;-) )
- very good opener
- very good volume off the opener (I have had my ears nearly bleeding on former tours openers)
- tx for not putting chairs in there like on the last tour (Mainz Phoenix Halle)
- great selection of songs
