Joe Satriani is a dynamic and experimental guitar player whose personal influences included the masterful guitar greats Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. Joe's colorful compositions are steeped in the blues and rock but also draw from a wide range of genres and innovations. Satch, a former guitar instructor, hit it big in 1987 with the his second full length record Surfing With The Alien. This incredible instrumental album secured Joe's place as a guitar hero. Since then, Satriani has sold millions of records and has been nominated thirteen times for a Grammy. He also has created the long running G3 rock summit, which has featured many contemporary guitar masters over the years. The 2007 version concluded a month-long series of dates at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey on April 14, 2007, with a blistering four-hour show that was loaded with licks and rife with riffs.

Best concert I' have ever been too. Starting off w/Paul Gilbert. I wasn't a fan before the show, and was ver sceptical of him. He was just outstanding. Him and his other guitar player kicked off the show w/a bang. Trading solo's and some really great sounding riffs. And then the all mighty power house of John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy, and Dave LaRue, took to the stage. John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy were beyond amazing and Dave LaRue really showed his skills w/a few bass solos. At 1 point, Mike Portnoy was actually playing catch w/a fan during a song and Portnoy never skipped a beat. And then a nice little comedy act insued during Glassgow Kiss, as Paul Gilbert and his band dressed in kilts and scotish attire, ran on stage and did a dance during the main lick coming out of the solo. And then Joe Satriani, hitting the stage strong, opening his set w/War. Playing a great set of old material, and only 1 new song w/Super Collassol. His last song was Always w/you, Always w/me. As the song reached the end John Petrucci hit the stage and began to jus shred the fretboards. Soon after, Paul joined in and did jus an amazing job. The jam was really done well. Every player gave 100% and they played very well together. My highlight would have to be watching Mike Portnoy, the Camel, go nuts on stage, and make it look so effortless. I can't wait for the next tour a fews years down the road.
