Joe, what an awesome performance last night at the tower in philly. I took my friends dave and matt to the show, it was their first time ever seeing you- and they were totally awestruck with your show!!!!!!!!! eric johnson was okay, but he is NOT even close to being on the same level as you, i have seen you play in the philly area every time since 1993, and you just NEVER dissappoint. good luck with the rest of the tour, and i hope to see you in vegas in may! The new cd is great and i cannot wait to see another show!

Been a fan of Joe for a while now but this was the first time that I have seen him in concert. What a show!! Joe is the ultimate showman. The band was tight and the sound great. Dave LaRue added some serious energy to the set. Eric Johnson was also great to see perform. Thanks to all my fellow Platinum Ticket Members who made the evening enjoyable also. Getting to meet Joe and shake his hand will always be a moment to remember. You are such a class act Joe! Thanks for an awesome show! Thanks for coming to the Philly area! I’ll be there when you come back!!

Last night at the Tower was fantastic! Dave Larue fit in fine, like I knew he would. I still feel that no one will ever come close to STUUUUUUU on bass though.

I've seen Joe about 25 times I guess, ever since the TLA in 1988. And I think he keeps getting better and better. I don't think his guitar *playing* per se has gotten better, he has always been a 6 string genius, but his songwriting and sense of how to economically play some beautifully melodic music without going overboard shredding 10 gazillion notes a second is what has risen Joe to a level far above what he used to be. How wierd is that? I'm saying that I'm glad he's slowed down!

I knew from hearing about other shows on the tour that Joe was NOT going to be playing anything from his recent albums, which I wasn't too happy about. My favorite Joe albums are the last 3, and I rarely go back and listen to any of the older stuff, but always have those recent albums in heavy rotation in my car player. His new songwriting and playing style, being so much more melodic than the earlier stuff, suit my current tastes more than the old stuff from back in my guitar-shredding fan days. So I was really wanting to hear stuff like IF I COULD FLY, STARRY NIGHT, LIGHTS OF HEAVEN, A TRAIN OF ANGELS, CHORDS OF LIFE, THE TRAVELLER, HANDS IN THE AIR, RASBERRY JAM DELTA V, MOUNTAIN SONG......

So what did we get? Faves like COOL #9 (ok I love that)....FLYING IN A BLUE DREAM (ok, perhaps my fave Joe song)...THE EXTREMIST (wow)....SURFING WITH THE ALIEN and SATCH BOOGIE (great but obligatory joe songs that i could do without)....oldies like POTATOE etc, ICE 9, and CIRCLES (great stuff but c'mon give me some strange beautiful music please!!!)....ALWAYS WITH ME (super amazing)....encore of SUMMER SONG (great)...and...

ALOT of stuff from the new album which I was not familiar with since I didn't pick it up yet. And....goddamm...I LOVED the new songs!!! Ran out and bought the new album today. It is very much in the same vein as his last 3 albums. Melding killer guitar playing with very melodic songs. I can even hear the words "super colossal" in the geetar singing on the title song.

Some of the songs last night really escalated into jamathons. Joe said something like the stars up on the ceiling were inspiring the band to jam more (the Tower theater roof has small lights in it that look like constellations - or it could be holes in that ceiling showing the sky...)

Sorry for rambling review but also want to say how once again ALWAYS WITH ME had an amazing jam section at the end that really carried us all away with the band. He played it in a similar fashion last time I saw him (keswick 10/14/04). That day had special emotional significance for me that I spoke of in the review I wrote then. Last night brought back similar emotions but in a different light with the passage of time. Thanks Joe.

I've seen Satch perform live quite a few times since the Surfing Tour at the TLA...last night's show at the Tower was just as memorable. I often wonder how this guy continues to stay under the radar, so to speak...but in the end I think I'm glad...Joe is always worth the price of admission and then some, last night was no different. Joe is an amazing talent and a highly enjoyable entertainer live...I'm obviously a fan for life...here's to the next time he comes our way!!

Excellent show. If you've never seen Satch live, you must go. The intensity was set before anyone walked out on stage. The Tower was echoing with the start of Flying In A Blue Dream. At that point you could feel the energy. The extended solo on Always With Me, Always With You was insane. Live version of One Robot's Dream was awesome. Plenty of songs with extended or different endings and solos. Only knock I had was the setlist. Don't get me wrong, the songs played were incredible, but a little more variety would have been nice. Basically you heard two albums (Surfin' & Super Colossal) with a few other early songs.

As for Eric Johnson, also top notch. I like the three piece band. The SRV song was great. Hints of Jeff Beck could be heard in his playing style!

All said and done, great venue and 3 hours of high intense rock 'n roll. Rock On!

This was my 10th time seeing Joe live. Everytime I leave the show I always say the same thing. "That was the BEST show by far". Joe and the band were awsome last night. From the opener, "Flyin in a blue dream" to some of the new material like: one robot's dream, Ten words, Chrowd Chant just to name a few, were incredibile. Joe's jam and the end with Always with you - Always with me was inspiring. Also always Fun to hear Surfin. Joe Thanks for always coming back to Philly. You are are true inspriation and I hope all of your fans will enjoy your music and effort that you put into your live gig for many years to come. P.S. Philadelphia Loves You!!!!
