Let me start off with saying that the show was excellent. The venue was ideal and the refreshments were superb. This was one of the most classy shows I have ever been to. The mixture and diversity of the viewing population re-enforces my belief that the music that you perform has beauty that appeals to all. The fans that attended the show with me were equally as pleased with your performance and ambience that your music produced. I sat in the seventh row and was witness to a show that I have been waiting for for the last three years. My hopes and expectatins were met. Thank you for the great time. Sybalingus. P.S. I will be awaiting your next show.

Dude, Joe! Best concert ever! Hogg was a great place, I had seats in the back row, ground floor, and I was still only like 150 feet from the stage, maybe. Never seen you alone before, so my dad got tickets for my birthday. I'm 17 now, been a fan for a good while, but on stage you sound so much better than in recordings. Great encore, too. Great show. Awesome show. Cool poster, too.

This was the second time I've seen Joe and the band. I checked this website after his Verizon Amphitheater show backing up Deep Purple in August, and noticed he would be back for a standalone performance. I searched hard and was able to secure second row, isle seats with one of my best buddies!

We spent nearly 3 hours being blown away by Joe's prowess - less than 20 feet away!

What a memorable night! Next time, I'm bringing my guitar-playing son with me.

The show was Great! 3 Hours! Wooo hooo! Mind blowing. He opened up with Up in the Sky and I about came out of my skin. That is one of my fav's! This is about the 10th time I have seen Joe. I actually met him and Steve Vai a couple of times. CONS - No Summersong, Satch Boogie, or Mystical Potatoes! But great show anyway!

My only beef is the PREMIUM TICKETS (Gold Club plan). It is not worth it! It is not worth the money to get an UGLY Joe Satriani shirt, a pass that gets you into NO WHERE! and seats that anyone else could of bought! There were only 4 gold buyers in my immedite area. Others that I talked to felt jipped as well!

If you are going to spend the money get the PLatinum package. At least your gauranteed to meet Joe. But your gonna have to Spend $200. And After readin the review below I should have done it. It sounds as thought someone screwed up the seating for the Premium holders. I came in from San Antonio and spent the night in Austin. Next time I will buy the Platinum. Joe, you guys need to do away with that gold package because it is crap.

This was my 5th time seeing Joe overall, the 3rd that was a non G3 show. You could say it was really my first though, since I'd never had the full 'evening with' experience before (other than the outstanding SF DVD). I couldn't believe when I found out that this show would be in such a small hall right in the middle of UT campus. The one time I remembered ever being in there was to take an exam! I never could have imagined seeing a large concert in the place, especially one as amazing as on October 30, 2004.

It really is almost a religious experience every time I see Joe. I leave feeling so high, yet so relaxed. His guitar tone live is second to none IMO. So warm and full, it never fails to give me goosebumps. More than the solos, it's the melodies of his pieces that I find truly inspiring. Unlike most people probably, I think Joe has made the best music of his career on his last 2 releases and I enjoyed getting to hear so much of it performed live.

To listen to Joe play for such a long time, such a variety of music styles from the course of his career...wow, just incredible. I'm impressed that he's not unwilling to leave out popular tunes (like "Summer Song" and "Satch Boogie") for songs he obviously just enjoys playing more at this point. The high points of the show for me were the beautifully moving "Searching", the totally ass-stomping "Hands in the Air", and the never-gets-old funk of "Cool #9", maybe his best song ever IMO. The energy during the set-ending "Flying in a Blue Dream" was also fantastic and brought nearly the entire audience rushing down to the stage in sheer delight. Once again, I witnessed even obvious non guitar freaks won over by Joe Satriani's talent, style and genuinely loose and fun stage presence. His shows are simply a blast.

I have to mention how stellar Joe's backing musicians are as well. I may have spent as much of the show watching Jeff Campatelli's (sp?) fills as I did watching Joe. He's an excellent, underrated drummer and I can see why Joe favors him so much. Same goes for Matt and Galen as well. What a solid and tight backing unit.

So I guess you could say I liked the show! Joe, thanks so much for coming back to Austin and giving us such a full and satisfying night of your awesome music. I look forward to your future projects and hope you never stop. All the best to you and see ya next time!

Once again another fantastic show! We had a great time on the platinum package backstage tour. John Iverson was really generous with his picture taking, can't wait to see them! We met Joe and Jeff, both super nice guys who answered everyones questions. Wish we could have been in the first two rows as promised, but we would do it again if given the chance. Thanks Joe!

Great performance. I'm a long-time fan, so I know that Joe plays incredibly, but I was still amazed at how fast he covered the fretboard Saturday night.

Still, for me it's all about the music, and the music was good stuff. Some highlights for me: the ever-evolving Cool #9, If I could Fly, Motorcycle Driver, Bamboo, Psycho Monkey, and the new extended jam at the end of Always with Me Always with You. Galen played some amazing riffs too -- a cool wah-wah accompaniment to Cool #9, the main riff of Strange, a significant part of Gnaahh.

I got up close to the stage for the encores, and the sound was much better up there . . . wish I could have been closer for the whole show.

Joe joked about his crazy song titles. He introduced If I could Fly as proof that "not all his songs have weird names," but when he got to Hordes of Locusts and Psycho Monkey, he admitted that he does come up with some pretty strange stuff. Joe and the whole band seemed to have a good time.

I wish I could rank this as an 11. This is the 8th time I have seen Joe and is easily my favorite show of all time. Most of the shows I have seen were the favorite cuts from the CD and most of the time the playing was so perfect that there was hardly a difference. Not tonight! Including the 10 minute break, the show went on for THREE HOURS. Are you kidding me? Plus there were so many songs that I loved seeing live for the first time. Plus, I have so much more appreciation for "Is there Love in Space?" Hearing those live makes you realize how difficult those songs are to play. Super solid performance from the lighting guy, the sound guy, and as always Jeff. Plus, how could I forget Matt and Galen? Matt's flawless playing and Galen squelching the desire to shred his guitar as he kept the rhythm. That's to everyone for rocking my f---in socks off once again!

Just to re-iterate what everyone else has been saying: Joe was nothing short of incredible.

Did the Platinum Package...What a blast! Jeff Campitelli came out and talked with us both during the Meet & Greet and earlier at the Backstage tour. He was very cool, friendly, and seemed excited to see the fans.

Joe was just as kind & cordial. He was so nice and appeared to be genuinely excited to meet us. Fame, success, and superhuman guitar abilities don't seem to have had any effect on his ego. I'll always treasure those couple of minutes that I got to spend with him.

John Iverson (Platinum Group coordinator) was awesome. Great job, John. My only recommendation for future Platinum events would be to be able to hang out during soundcheck.

As always a fantastic show. Actually, it was more like two and a half fantastic shows in a row. Joe played for over two hours. The set list was chock full of the lesser played tunes, but was still sprinkled with the ubiquitous favs, such as, "Flying in a Blue Dream", "Always with Me, Always with you", and the song that had me hooked since age 8, "Surfing with the Alien." I purchased the Platinum ticket and was very glad I did so. There was a mix up with the seating which put me and my buddy Rob in the fifth row behind people who paid considerably less than I. But thanks to the incredibly cool Mr. John Iverson (thanks a bunch) he saw to it that my friend and I had a drink on the house and a complimentary t-shirt of our choosing. Now on to the reason your reading this... Joe was "CD perfect" with just the right amount of musically emotional expression and improvisation mixed in. Absolutely fabulous sound in the auditorium. Great job mixer/sound dude!!! The venue was smaller than a middle sized High School auditorium. I don't really think there was a bad seat in the house. I really enjoyed "Moroccan Sunset", the lighting in the background simulated a sunset for ambience, and at the end of the song Joe blew on the strings of his axe for an amazing effect that I had never seen before (simply amazing). Matt was awsome on the bass and what looked to me like an electric double bass, I think. The rhythm guitar player "Galen Henson" ,who doesn't get enough credit or recognition, did an excellent job. And the ultra cool Jeff Campitelli was tight as ever on the drums. He came out on stage with us before the show to talk, sign autographs, and take pictures with the Platinum group. During the soundcheck we were all impressed with the musical stylings of the infamous Mike "no I don't jam" Manning, the guitar tech guru. After the show the backstage pass and Platinum tix holders stayed behind and waited for the "Man" to wind down and come out for a visit. As usual Joe was his ever enjoyable self, soft spoken, genuinely interested, and oh so polite. Wish there more people like him. He chatted with everyone for a bit, signed autos and took pix. And with that the end to a perfect "Evening with Satriani." Everyone should be so lucky. Thanks Joe you are definitley one of a kind. Thanks for all the great music (the soundtrack of my life.) Thanks to the rest of the band and to Mr. John Iverson for being so cool. Thank you folks and good"Starry Night." robert g.

Incredible experience. I did the platinum ticket package and got to tour the stage before the show and meet Joe afterward as well as second row center seats. An absolutely unforgettable experience. If they have the platinum package again next time Joe comes around, I'll do it again.
