This was the first time I ever had the chance to Joe live and what a great show it was. My friend, Tom, and I had already been to two local shows in the past week and were on a high from discovering a great Vancouver metal band, Volatile. So the build up and anticipation for seeing my all time favorite guitar player on top of all that had me bursting at the seems!!! As neither of us had been to the Vogue before we asked where our seats were only to be told by the rather embarressed usher that the lighting board had been set up in that location. Due to the set up we were seated a few feet behind and to the left of the board. As both of us are into the production end of music as well of musicians ourselves this couldn't have been better. We had nearly an identical view of the stage, plus a clear view of the board. The preset capability was impressive but not as impressive as the entirely live (and manually done) lighting for one of my favorites "Flying in a blue dream". It was like he had his own visual instrument of expression through varying shades of purple and blue. Joe (as usual) was nothing short of spectacular adding a few new harmonics and squeals to flesh out old favorites and new tonal experiences. While Joe was taking a break (to let his fingers cool down he told us) one of the guys from the road crew came by and apologized for taking up our seats as gave us a pass for the aftershow. After the show ended we made our way downstairs and mingled with a few of our favorite techs from Long & McQuade. Soon Joe made an appearance and we got the chance to chat briefly about the show and microwaving cd's in the back yard. Apparently that can be good entertainment if you have a spare microwave and some cd's you don't want (just stand back!!). I had my "Engines of Creation" poster signed and before we left we were also given a copy of Joe's "Additional Creations" cd. I seriously don't know how I made it home without spontaniously combusting.

This was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. It's amazing how one person can hold an audiences' attention for 3 hours without extranious pyro or other stage tricks, just an instrument. It was the first concert I've been to where my eyes were glued to a single performer. And to my disbelief, Joe is even better live, which is an accomplishment considering the complexity of his music. His hands must be numb after every show! I would like to thank Joe for a great performance that exceded my expectations!

I'm a 34 yr old Canadian woman. Had never heard of Joe Satriani before attending the concert here in Vancouver. I will never forget Joe Satriani after being witness to his performance. I was somewhat surprised that the majority of people in the audience were men. The music is sensual, passionate, haunting, orchestral and GENIUS! As a woman I found it hit the core. I'm surprised there are not an emormous number of female fans tossing their panties onto the stage. Suffice it to say, Joe is on the stereo now and my interest has been piqued! Love ya Joe, you certainly do more than just "rock".... you roll, send, spiral, simmer, erupt, swoon, cradle and more!

I have never been to a more incredible concert! Like so many, I was a tad disappointed to hear we missed your autograph session... if only I had known.

Still grinning just thinking about it.

Great gig Joe! I was the fella in the VERY back with the opera glasses/binoculars. Too bad Eric wasn't there. I flew in from Calgary just to see you, so I didn't know about the Future Shop signing.. That should have been on the website! I waited out back for a few hours waiting for you so I could get my chromeboy (#491) backplate signed, but I had to eat dinner sometime, and you were a bit later showing up than I had expected.

Joe you never cease to amaze me. Stu too. Too bad Eric wasn't there.. By the way, the crowd wasn't booing him, they were saying "STUUUU!". I didn't see any bonus cds... I bought a T-Shirt hoping it would come with a bonus cd like you said they would, but no luck. Everything went great, but I would have loved to get my chromeboy plate signed.. It's not easy for a 15 year old to fly out just to see a concert, so I was a little let down by that.

Well, I just have to say that I had a great weekend. I had to fly out to Vancouver from Calgary to see the show since Joe ignores my pleas to come to the Prairies :( but I had a great time. I was pretty disappointed to discover in the "Georgia Strait" that Joe was SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS at the Future Shop around 3:30. I was 2 blocks away from the store but didn't discover this tidbit of info until about 5:30...too late by then! The evening show was fantastic though. We were sitting up in the nosebleeds for the first "set". After intermission (and a couple of beers) we decided to go to the bottom level in the back. It sounded way better back there...more in your face! Joe was amazing...what a flawless player. Also I loved STU HAM'S bass solo...wow!!! Joe's comment about Stu's upcoming album being made available in MP3 format with proceeds going to Lars (from Metallica) was killer...to damn funny! I don't what what else to say other than I had a hell of a good time and think Joe is a great talent, just wish I could've met him...damn Future Shop! I could tell you about the trouble we had later on East Hastings Street but this is supposed to be a concert review!

Thanks for a hell'uva show Joe!!!

Well, for my second Satriani concert, this was better than the last. Of course, the last was G3, so better than that was beyond phenomenal. Due to work conflicts, we were unable to make the Seattle show, so Vancouver was the option. An awesome show all 'round. I enjoyed both sets greatly, and found Joe's easy going stage manner refreshing. I guess what I've heard about him being a good guy holds true. I enjoyed 'Flying in a Blue Dream' and 'Big Bad Moon' the most, but the whole show was entertaining and a testiment to one of the big guns of guitar. On our 8 hour drive home, my wife and I were listening to Satch CD's and when a tune from the concert came up, we'd just grin and think back on the concert. Wish I would have known about the autograph session at Future Shop, but you can't have everything I guess. Joe, Stu and Jeff, thank you for a great evening of fantastic music!

I drove 12 hours to see you and that was the best concert I have ever seen. You showed me that having only a three piece band is more than enough. Too bad eric wasn't there. But I don't think you played the mighty turtle head for some reason or had the second encore but I guess I can't complain seeing that what I did hear was the most incredible music experience I have been through and you had played almost full 3 hours. Thanks for coming to Vancouver

I flew up from Montana to see Joe play. Canadian customs thought it odd i was in town just to see a concert. Took me to the shake down area to look me over i guess but didn't search me. She asked me "Who is this Joe Satriani?" The show was great. Joe , you are the premier guitarist of this time. Your music makes me feel good when i am listening to it. Thanks for a great time in Vancouver!

Yeah, once again Satch blew me away. I had seen him at G3 a few years back, but I was way back in the audience and he only played a 45 minute set. This time, front row middle, super view of his playing. Just amazing the dexterity and precision of his skill. Pretty much every song they played was a rockin' one. Don't think they missed one that I wanted to hear, except maybe Rubina and You're my World, but I wasn't disappointed AT ALL. Highlights were Ceremony, Crystal Planet, Devil's Slide, Summer Song, AWMAWY, Love Thing, Big Bad Moon, and Surfin. Stu's Solo ROCKED, that's all I need to say, you guys know how awesome he is. Eric wasn't there, apparently border problems... damn Canadian Customs, I'll kick their ass for this. =) A slide on a harmonica?!?!?!? hahahah Loved the encores because everyone rushed up front, but since we were front row we stood on our seats and it looked so awesome with one security guard looking freaked out of his mind and all these hyper but non-threatening satriani fans crowding the stage. It was a wicked experience all in all.

The show was AWSOME, I got to meet Joe twice today! THANKS FOR THE PASSES, Alas some bad songs were played, i can't remember which because i sort of zoned out for them, I wish he played rubina or new blues but thats the way it goes. STU was awsome but no linus and lucy! (my favorite part of the show) I guess hes getting tired of that, read in an interview he wanted to retire it in '91. To bad eric had some border problems and couldnt be there but the show was great anyways, the lights ruled and so did the sound! I only give it a 9 because some songs were snoozers
