Extreamly good show. Joe played two sets. Just when I thougt it was over ,a short break later, the band came back to player some new songs. More songs than anytime in the past. I brought my son who likes metal and rap and he loved the show. Tickets were only $25.

The first time I had seen Joe live, eventhough, I have been a fan since the early eighties. The venue was great and the place was filled with beautiful boys (being one of the few women in attendance!) But, when Jose started to play, I forgot everything thing around me and was completely lost in the strange beautiful music which consumed the theatre. Joe blew my mine! I wait with baited breathe for the next show! JoAnne

Joe you played an awesome show last night! I was blown away when you opened with time, it was exellent. Another highlight of the show was you trading licks with Eric.I also really enjoyed the way you played Rasberry Jam Delta-v, & the tone you had on Crystal Planet was sweet!Yeah I am always really excited to hear you play songs I have never heard you play live before that's why I went crazy when I heard you play Down Down Down, & One Big Rush It ruled!!! The only dissapointing thing about it was that was the 4th time I've seen you live & I still have never heard anything off Time Machine. One other thing, IF THERE IS ANY WAY YOU COULD DO IT PLEASE PLAY WHY AT YOUR SHOW AT THE WARFIELD FRIDAY APRIL 14TH WHICH IS TOMMOROW NIGHT MY BROTHER & I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO HEAR THAT SONG LIVE, THANKS JOE YOU RULE. the MegaBoyd

This was the third time that I had the privilage to watch you and your band perform and I'd have to say that this was the best show of them all. The second encore came out of nowhere and I left the show only wishing I could play some of the stuff that you do. I must also give it up for Stu also, he's the man when it comes to the bass. Thanks.

Hey Joe,

Have you ever considered haveing a singer? If so I think a female singer would do good. I'm telling you this because I found a band at MP3.com who's guitarist sounds like you. http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/23/lunar_plexus.html They sound great. Try a song or two with a female singer. You've probably already are doing anyway. GL!

Oh, I didn't see your show. I'm new to the site and this is where I found to write you. Thanks.

When I went to Satch's first show in Sao Paulo, four years ago, I was blown away by what I saw/heard. I never thought the trio could make a better performance than they put on last time. This time they managed to accomplish the impossible. What Joe does with the guitar, is something that no review, no matter how well written, could do justice to. It's a thing you have to see to believe. I am glad I was there yet again to witness a true living legend- a master, a guitar giant- at work. Thank you very much for what you do, sir. You are one of a kind.

(webcast) I'll give you a 8 because it LOOKED like you guys were having a killer show. You could have been repeating the Barney theme over and over for all I know, cause I had NO SOUND! I had the feed set up in plenty of time, but when it started I got 2 seconds of sound and that was it. My husband thought that maybe because the screen was sitting idol for 10 minutes, it needed to be redone, so he clicked off to reconnect again. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Well, an hour later, I finally got back on! Got just enough sound to figure out what song the band was on (Circles), so I got all my c.d.'s lined up and started my own damn sound by following the set list with my diskman & c.d.'s. It made the webcast a hell of a lot more interesting. It was funny cause sometimes I was dead on and it was killer, but then again, sometimes I was a few seconds behind, and without a FF button on my diskman, it got kinda wierd. Lots of good shots from the webcast, although sometimes it was really jerky and froze up. You all looked great, and every time you guys smiled, my heart melted and I was just grateful to be watching the show. After all, how often do we get to be that close to you guys on stage? Thanks for giving the rest of us a chance to join in, even though it didn't work out as well as we all would have liked. Just having a night with the band again was cool!

Hey Joe, this is the first time that I've seen you play. Unfortunately I live in Belize, Central America and our Internet Service Provider (ISP) was R-E-A-L-L-Y S-H-I-T-Y about the video and audio stream. For the most part of the concert, all I saw was blurred images and fragmented audio. It's not my computer, because I just bought a brand new Compaq Presario 7478, 533mhz AMD K6-2 processor, etc. Hope that you would show this concert again.

It finally cleared up around the last hour of the concert. Boy I loved "Always with me..." That's my favorite. A also wanted to hear & see the "Satch Boogie," but you know the reason why I couldn't. It's unfortunate that legalities prevent you from making the contest global. I think I would have won. I didn't get the name of the lucky guy. Can you e-mail me.

Boy you are great. I watched your lesson on scales six times so far. PLEASE DON'T TAKE IT OFF AT LEAST FOR ANOTHER WEEK OR SO. Bye.

You have a lot of fans here in Belize. You should come someday to relax on the beach.

GREAT SHOW (what I saw of it).

Bye

Basically the show was off the hook! This was the first time I have seen him perform. It was so awsome to see how many fans were out there. There were so many young kids out there! I being 14 thought i was the youngest and the only female who really like his stuff. Oh wait, yeah I was wrong. I still can't belive I saw it! And he came out twice to play again when everyone was chanting his name. I Wonder what that feels like? It was a 3 hour show. with one fifteen minute break. Sure I could do that.... rrrrrrightttttt. You never really know what it's like until you see him in concert. I cant even describe it. Just go if you get the chance. It is beyond worth it!!!!!!!! Jessikah!

This was a great show - I've been going to Satch's shows since his Flying in a Blue Dream tour and he never ceased to amaze me despite the fact that I know he's capable of anything on the guitar. This show was no exception!

I was pretty worried with how low-key the great Stu Hamm was during the pre- intermission performance, but his bass solo ruled as usual (I waited FOREVER for it! Everyone was begging, "Stu! Stu! Stu!!!"), but strangely he left out "Linus and Lucy". I'm really excited to hear that Stu's got a new solo album coming out on www.favorednations.com, it's been an eternity since his last disc!

Joe was having a great night as usual, despite some minor problems with feedback - he hit the sweet spot 95% of the time. But Joe's wardrobe... no comment!

Eric was spending more time on rhythm guitar than I expected, I thought he'd be at the keyboards more. He looked like Robert Downey Jr. with a Steve Vai haircut. :) It was awesome that he was able to trade licks with Joe during "Borg Sex" - tonight's performance definitely made me like the song much more than I did - unfortunately he didn't get too much spotlight after that. I guess Joe has been doing multiple guitar parts all by himself for too long to rearrange the songs for 2 guitars now. It'd be interesting to see what kind of record Eric would put out after this tour's over, seeing how the Surfing tour was a major catalyst for how ass-kicking Stu Hamm's "Kings of Sleep" album turned out to be.

Jeff did a great job at the drums too, however he was not subject to the "mandatory sunglasses" rule. :)

Now for the set itself - a collection of Satch's greatest hits, being an oldtimer myself I would have preferred to hear more new songs - Borg Sex was a real treat and crowd pleaser. It was also a very pleasant surprise to hear Clouds Race Across the Sky live - it's very different from the recorded version and much more energetic. However, I was bummed that songs like Attack and The Power Cosmic 2000 were left out. The rest of the set was made up of all- time favorites like Surfing, Blue Dream, Extremist, Crystal Planet, Always, Satch Boogie, Potato Head, Circles, Ice 9, etc. and the more recent songs off the Crystla Planet and Joe Satriani albums. It was great to hear gems like Down, Down, Down and Cool No. 9 given the live treatment too. It would have been so much cooler if there'd be some songs off Time Machine in the set though - like Banana Mango II!!!

The lights were fantastic - Joe definitely has the best in the biz working for him. It also really cracked me up when I saw Satch's roadie dancing to the riffs of Big Bad Moon. Overall it was an awesome show, I just wish Stu and Eric got to strut their stuff a bit more.

I live South of San Francisco and found out at the last minute I wouldn't be able to make the show at the Warfield - the venue I usually enjoy Joe at. Knowing I'd hate myself if I missed the tour, I sat in traffic for four-and-a-half hours to get to Sacramento...Man oh Man - was it worth it. The band played on and on and on...everything seemed to be tuned just right. I enjoyed being one of only a few thousand to take part in the opening night of the tour, and that added something for me. Joe - if you read these - thanks for doing what you do and sharing your gift live as often as you do. I can't listen to the CD's too much, and I certainly never get tired of seeing you talk to your instruments. You sure do make it look easy. To anyone reading this - if you're within driving/flying distance of any of the shows, MAKE THE TRIP!. Trust me, you'll be glad you did. This is the best of the seven shows I've seen.

This was my 9th SATCH show and one of my favorites! Joe was in the zone, and the band seemed fired up. The acoustics are awesome at the Community Theatre which really enhanced the whole experience. All the road miles of the last couple years shows in the band's tightness and performance.Eric adds a cool element to the overall sound, which I'm sure will continue to improve as he gets comfortable with Joe's other songs. All in all quite the experience and a great show!

To see him play live is certainly a mind blowing experience, I can't wait for this one because it is on the day that I finish school forever, Is there any other better way to celebrate than to see Joe play LIVE in your home town?

Absolutely powerful playing with fantastic acoustics in that place. That was one sweet show. The only downside was the audience took a little time to get into it..........and possibly turn up Eric's sound for a little more rhythm punch - especially on Flying In A Blue Dream.

Thanks for the show and motivation Joe. It was great to meet you along with my wife - she was the one shooting the photo's for The Salt Lake Tribune )they wanted some file photos for when you attend Salt Lake City - which isn't on your tour!! Please make SLC some day soon. We love you out here. Even the Mormons!! hehe Take care Jim and Leah Southwick (jims@bibbs.com)

Since I haven't seen Joe since 91, I knew I would be in for something extremely special!! What I witnessed went much further beyond and put in me in my own " nirvana " space. The new songs were very tight and totally rocked. The older material ( Satch Boogie my fav ) also sounded perfect. As I watched the show, I couldn't help imagine all of the damn songs Joe now has to play as opposed to the " old days " when you knew what was coming next. Personal favorites of the night were: Down Down Down, Cool #9, Ice 9, Surfin, Rubina, and Until we say Goodbye. The new songs did not come across with a " techno spoil ". They rocked hard with killer grooves and beats. As the first show of the tour, Joe was totally pumpmed and often shoved his fist in the air to salute the crowd. It was apparent that this guitar god had a close personal relationship with many screaming fans. After all, these are the songs, harmonies, and melodies that were the soundtrack of our lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On one negative note: you people who scream whenever he plays a fast lick or whammy bar dive need to STOP!!! Some of us want to here the whole solo as to understand his phrasing and melodic journeys. This can't occur with screaming in one's ear now can it???

Sitting in the exact middle of the theatre, girlfriend in my right arm, Satch on the stage, stu on the right, Jeff in the back and Eric on the left I was compltely blown away and relaxed at the same time from the show...2nd satch concert in Sacramento, and they multiply in fun and show every time...

After putting on such a great show, I only have one question for Mr. Satriani: Man, aren't those fingers sore? Being a guitarist of a few years, practicing every day, if my fingers moved that fast for 30 seconds I would have to stop...Damn.

Damn sums up the show.

Do whatever you have to to see this show! Sell whatever you have to to see this show! This is the 2nd time I've seen Joe and it WILL NOT be the last. Stu was phenominal, as only Stu can be. Eric was very impressive and Jeff was his typical solid self. Which I don't mean in a bad way, because if Joe's asked you to tour with him , you obviously ain't no slouch! And what can you say about Joe that everybody doesn't already know. We're not worthy, Joe! I'm still not sure that being the 1st show on the tour is a good thing or a bad thing, though. Does it mean Joe really likes Sac-town or he just lookin' to work out the bugs before he starts hitting the big cities and the big venues? But now that I think about it, I guess I really don't care, as long as he continues to come back here and grace us with his talents. People who don't know who Joe is are missing out on one of lifes greatest pleasures. Hats off to the Engines of Creation tour and album, and to Joe and the band.

Incredible, as always. The energy was awesome, heard every song I had hoped to hear, the new songs sound just as good as the "classics", still humming them... Joe is one musician I hope everyone has the opportunity to see, a truly remarkable experience. Thanks to everyone involved for a great gig, hope to see you all again in Reno soon, we love you here. It is an honor to see such an artistically and technically skilled guitarist, in my opinion, the teacher truly is the master. I can only hope to play with half the passion that Joe does someday. Best wishes on the tour, thank you. Sand

Mr. Satriani kept me spellbound the entire time. I kept my eyes glues to his hands to watch a true virtuoso take his instrument to the limit. This is the best show I have ever been to. I have seen some very good guitar players before, but this was a chance to see the best. As a guitar player myself, I was truly inspired and priveledged to see the best. Congratulations Mr. Satriani on a job well done - you truly inspire the best within us. Take it to the limit. Best wishes on future endeavors. -Joe Istre

I was fifth row center and was absolutely awestruck with the performance.i saw him last time he was in sac. on the crystal planet tour and this was better in my opinion. being a guitarist i can play many many of his songs with a great deal of accuaracy but seeing him do is very humbling.one thing that struck me as odd is when the played the summer song twice in a row.?or one song in between the two i mean.ohh and stus bass going out during his solo.

I have never experienced Joe live before, primarily beacuse I used to live in the south and Satch didn't come around there... I don't blame him though! I have been a Satriani fan since I was about 15/16 years old, I heard Big Bad Moon and saw the video on MTV... I was hooked. I think Flying in a Blue Dream was the first tape I ever bought after scamming my older sisters stuff.

My wife and I attended the show in Sacto, after a long day at work and getting over the flu, didn't know what to expect. Joe blew me away.

I have played guitar for 12 years and have been impressed with Joe's stuff (as well as somewhat depressed, honestly... how can I look at my poor, tortured guitars after seeing how Joe so effortlessly played his?) but LIVE? he was unbelievable... I hate to sound like some bonehead reviewing (no offense guys)a concert... I mean, who really cares what others think of a performance that you enjoyed completely? Well, I honestly sat there for the full 2.5 hours shaking my head in disbelief and zoning out to the cosmic audio vibes... as a fellow player of the guitar (which is about the only way I can compare Joe's vocation to myself) I found a much higher appreciation of Joe's work. The band was great for an opening show of a tour as well.

This is really more of a thank you to Joe, his music continues to inspire me as it has for at least a decade. His changes in style over the years can only be explained as Joe continuing to evolve as a master at his instrument... God help us if he puts out a few more cd's.... by then we'll all be sit around like confused dogs turning our heads trying to understand something that has surpassed our abilities! Thank you Joe!!

Wow. Incredible. Double Encore...I can't say more. As for the highlight of my night, Rasberry Jam Delta-V blew me away. I was also very impressed with eric's lead bits on borg sex. Stu what can I say...He is the man. Jeff was extremely tight. This is the best satch concert ive been to yet. Already looking forward to G3. Peace out. -Adrian Carrera

Seeing as I went to both shows I ahd better include both reviews, as stated earlier I think the Vicar Street venue is far superior to the Point Depot because it is significantly smaller so you get much closer to the artist. I have seen Joe twice in the Point and Twice in Vicar street and I have to say he really kicked ass there. The venue was civilised and they crowed well mannered (I suppose as long as we Irish boys can have our beer there'll be no problem). Along with the stunning performance of the four guys you get really close, put it this way, I got to shake Joes hand twice during the course of a gig plus Joe literally handed me one of the picks (That's how close you get - armslength) I got one of his picks, one from Stu and a Drumstick from Jeff. I was just amazed I didn't know who to look at, Joe's amazing playing style (Hand Capo technique among other things I've no name for), Simmilar stuff from Stu on his Bass plus that mind blowing solo or Jeffs wicked performance on that massive drumkit. I see a number of the fans actually met the guys after, I didn't know you could, Oh well next time maybe. Keep up the good work guys and please stick to Vicar Street. The only problem is now I have to wait until next time.
