Great show, ok venue!, Vicer ST was a dream! Joe was amazing, no problem keeping the speed of light going for 2h 20min! "Why?" was great live, all the new songs sounded brilliant. one thing made be upset was he only played one song from the Crystal planet album, I wanted "Ceremony", "Up in the Sky" and "LOVE THING", still great show, can't wait for the next one!! in Vicer St ! Thanks Joe Suff

Great gig, played most of the songs I wanted to hear. Have seen Joe play four times, just like a good wine he never fails. The only thing negative was the venue did not present Joe at his best unless you were over six foot tall. Can't wait for the next one.

The best live show ever, nearly 3 hours of masterful fretboard artistry. The best music and musicianship to be seen anywhere in the galaxy.Having been a Satch fan for many years but never having the chance to see him live(as I am originally from Zimbabwe, where no-one goes on tour ever),it was such a pleasure to see how he plays all the songs we know and love.It was good that he played a vast array of stuff going back years and new stuff too.Come back to Dublin soon,Joe......

what can i say-another breathtakin super show by da man himself!!! my second time seeing him-i enjoyed it more this time than vicar street cuz i was only a rookie satch fan back then-set list was class especially "summer song" a personal favourite-was disappointed not to hear up in the sky or crystal plannet-atmosphere was good too at it and sound was a1-only drawback was when joe was sitting down jammin away it was hard to see him playin even though we were'nt too far away-but i got a plec at the end and loads of fotos so that made up for it!! also got my foto taking with the guy playin support-he was pretty cool too-we were talking to the guy with the chrome boy afterwards-fair play for bringing it!! says he's got a signed jem too!! anyway was a brilliant night, well worth the two year wait-tanx for a great gig joe-slan

This was my first Satriani gig and it was awesome! Like some other people we travelled down from Belfast to go to the show, and it was really worth it... other people at other gigs had said the sound was poor or the atmosphere was crap, but the sound in Red Box was amazing, and I thought the atmosphere was great! Its just us Irish crowds :-) Set list was amazing as well, so many songs I wanted played were played. When I was standing there I was totally amazed all the way through... it was like being inside all those DVD's Ive watched of him playing...

To make things better I won one of the aftershow passes. We waited around quite awhile to get backstage, and none of the security guys seemed to even know anyone was meant to go backstage, they all tried to get us to clear off but eventually some guy told them to let us through. We waited around outside for awhile and then Joe came out. Managed to get my t-shirt signed (even if it was a Fender t-shirt!) and my ticket. Cant believe I got to shake hands with Joe Satriani and get a photo taken beside him.

It really was an amazing show, definately inspired me! I dont know if anyone from the band ever reads reviews by us guys, but if you do I just wanna say thanks for a great show and letting us come out back, its something I will definately never forget!

I've seen Joe in Dublin a couple of times before but I only found out about the Vicar Street gigs in 2000 the day after they were over! This one made up for it though. The gig was amazing - I was a few feet from the front right in front of Joe and the set list was just the business.

Glad to see from the other reviewers that they thought the crowd was good - I thought they were a bit dead until near the end myself but maybe everyone was just a bit in awe or didn't want to miss any of the show by leaping up and down like me!

Anyway, I've tons of photos (including Joe with the hat on) that I haven't cropped or rotated yet but I'll dump them in here if I can find the right button to click.

We went to all 3 UK shows and This show in Dublin. Joe was brilliant throughout as always but I think the vibe at this show was the best of all. Our first time in Ireland and hopefully not our last. The audience was really up for the gig and it made a wonderfull atmosphere. We were the ones that gave Joe that hat (sorry about that). What a great night. I spoke to Joe and Jeff after the show and they both said they really enjoyed the show and thought the fans really conected. AWSOME. Did anyone get a picture of Joe with that hat on? if so let me know on john@beattietransport.co.uk Thanks.

I arrived to the gig full of anticipation and as is usual with Joe, he never dissapoints. I thought the set was near perfect, opening with "flying" straight into crushing day....., I'm sure you know all the rest by now ! To end with "friends" was excellent and i really liked the extended version too. The new tracks from SBM are great live. My only critisism, No Love Thing ! one of the best rock ballads ever, if not the best. How can ya leave it out Joe, i'ts too good !. Joe's Playing was absolutely flawless. The band excellent, especially Jeff, he really does gel with Joe most brilliantly. The sound too was excellent, all the levels were spot on. The Venue was Ok for me but the seated / tabled concert at Vicar Street for me was the most awsome experience ever, to sit for 2 hours less than 4 feet from Joe and watch every movement, Nirvana ! I got to meet Joe afterwards and got all my Albums signed, and a cool photo etc. Big Thanks to Tour Manager Steve Weston who made sure I was there, and to Mr Jon Luini (webmaster) who forwarded my message to Steve.

P.S. I urge all of you not to miss Dream Theater in October, I seen them in London in January and they are fantastic, Joe's not touring with them for nothing, I'd love to be going to one of the US dates, To see Joe Jam with them would be really cool.

Excellent concert folks!!! Joe and the guys played their hearts out as they always do! The Irish crowd savoured every note and created a great atmosphere for the last show of the 2002 European tour which lasted over 2.5 hours. Highlights of the show included beautiful renditions of 'The Headless Horseman', 'Midnight' and 'Always With Me, Always With You'. Afterwards I was lucky enough to meet Joe with some other fans (see photo section). Joe always likes to take time to meet fans for a little chat and to sign things if required. Once again Joe, thank you for coming to Ireland and hopefully we'll see you back again soon! Regards, Conrad Gibbons

This is the first time i've seen Joe live, I'm sorry I didn't see any of the previous gigs he has done in Dublin. The Live in San Fran is good but the real thing is breath taken. I'm eagerly awaiting Joe's return to Dublin altough it will probaly be a couple or more years, it will be worth the wait.

Thanks for the expierience Joe.

My first time seeing joe live, and after the first song, Flying In A Blue Dream, i was left literally breathless. I think nows its finally safe to say that his technique is perfect, and personally i find all aspects of his music amazing. he kept the show nice and varied taking an opportunity to sit down and play some classical stuff as well. As for his backing band, Jeff Campitelli must be one of the greatest drummers out there... a flawless performance. All in all, a perfect venue for a perfect gig.

REALLY enjoyed the gig last night. Joe was in brilliant form and the crowd gave him a great reception. Loved the way Joe came on stage wearing that ridiculous oversized Guiness hat, set the tone for a fun evening. It was so cool to hear 'Why' live. Other highlights were 'I believe' , 'Headless Horseman', 'Midnight' , 'Oriental Melody', ah heck, it was all brilliant. Love to get my hands on a recording of that awesome Jeff and Matt jam! It was also great to see more fellow female fans in the audience than there was in Vicar Street, 2 years ago. Thanks Joe & crew for an amazing experience. Looking forward to seeing you play again in Ireland in the future. I hope next time round I'll get to shake my idol's hand. Suzanne P.s. The red pants were groovy : )

This gig was simply awesome. The new material sounded amazing. Joe and the band seemed to really enjoy themselves and the crowd atmosphere was ecstatic!! The place was jam packed to the doors. Hightlights: Crushing Day, Headless Horseman, Midnight, Starry Night, and then later Oriental Melody and Mountain Song played back to back!!! Jeff/Matt jam was cool too.

I also made the long trip down south from Belfast. This was my first Satch gig as well, and I can safely say it wont be the last. Big thanks to Joe and the band for putting on such a tremendous show. It was great to hear Crushing Day, that was one of the highlights for me. I also loved Summer Song, Surfing, Flying, Friends, I believe, and Midnight was very cool also. How minter was it to hear Satch Boogie at the end as well!!! I also liked those new songs with the seven string, very cool. Its nice to see a seven string played well (for a change....). For most of the show I just had this big grin on my face, what a great night. The venue I thought was excellent. My only criticisim would be that the level of the stage was a little low and unless you were over 6 foot tall or in the first 5 rows, your visibility was a little hampered. That said, I'm 6 foot 1 so I had a ball.

Again, big thanks to Joe, the band and the Red Box!!

WOW! It was a small venue, but the whole band demolished it! For those who braved the area around the toilets (!) to be on the left of the stage with Joe, the atmosphere was really cool. Plus, at songs like "The Extremist", and especially "Surfing with the Alien", I could see about 40 people playing air guitar along with Joe! : )

The new material really kicks, especially stuff like "Mind Storm", but "Starry Night" really brought back the whole vibe of the show.

An excellent Gig... and I hope Joe comes back to Dublin soon! We drove from Belfast to see him, and he was definately worth it... : D

Oh, and tell Red Box to GET A BIGGER SIGN!!! (After driving past it twice!!!)

Thanks for a great gig,

Michael M (Northern Ireland)

What a night, got in, front row right in front of joe the whole time. joe was amazing, as you would expect! The opener was flying in a blue dream, and then crushing day, devil's slide,cool#9,belly dancer,ice9,mind storm, seven string, mystical potato head groove thing, extremist, crush of love, new last jam, summer song then he did a sitting down session while the band took a rest. he did midnight amongst this. then into starry night which was brilliant live, ibelieve, oriental melody, mountain song, why, always with me, always with you, raspberry jam, surfing with the alien, satch boogie, and friends to finish. He used two chromeboys, his seven string which was sweet, a double neck, and snakey which was amazing looking. to top it all of i got his plectrum. a guy i met up with brought his chromeboy along and i brought one of my strats to get signed by the man himself. john handed his up near the end and satch replied by saying "i wouldn't know how to play that!". he signed it after surfing. at the very end he took my guitar and signed it, but the marker didn't work for some strange reason, i couln't believe it. but i think satch knew it hadn't come out because he sent out a guy to bring it backstage to get signed again! what luck! how could u improve on this? i then managed to get backstage after walking round the entire building to find a back door, and there was ned evett the support guitarist! we talked for about ten minutes and give us a signed copy of his new album! He was really down to earth , just a really nice guy! then we saw satch himself, i had already give him a box of chocs for his birthday so we talked for a while and SHOOK HIS HAND!!!! what a guy! to top it all off, i got one of jeff's drumsticks of a security guy who picked it up after it falling between the stage and the barrier. WHAT A NIGHT!!! THANKS TO JOE AND THE BAND, AND TO NED AND JOE FOR TAKING TIME TO TALK TO US! AND TO THE GUYS AT THE RED BOX WHO MADE IT POSSIBLE!!
