A MESSAGE FROM JOE

I wanted to thank all of our fans online and on tour for all their great support. The shows in the U.S and Europe were fantastic thanks to the best audience there is!

I've been giving my left hand a bit of a rest up in the high Sierras, but, I'm getting psyched for our South American tour. The big news is that we are a power trio again. Eric Caudieux, our rhythm guitarist/keyboardist, had an offer to produce Guns'n'Roses, and we wouldn't let him turn it down! Best of luck Eric!

This will be our second tour of S.A., but our first time in Mexico. Please check the tour page for details of where and when. Stuart Hamm will play bass and Jeff Campitelli will be on drums, and we've included some different songs for this leg of the tour as well. The three piece line up will give us some additional freedom to explore some new musical territories. I may even sing a bit more... just kidding!...

Our schedule for the fall months is not yet defined, but updates will follow on the news page as they develop. I know there have been many requests for another G3 tour, rest assure we are working on it, but don't hesitate to send along your suggestions.

That's all for now... I'll send some updates from the road... Joe...

EXCLUSIVE ONLINE-ONLY FAN CLUB T-SHIRTS

As you may know, we've been working hard on making some merchandise available to all of you online fans and we're very pleased to announce that it is finally here! That's right, we've got an exclusive t-shirt which is designed especially for Joe's online fans. The front is a very cool variation on images from the Engines of Creation artwork and the back has www.satriani.com emblazoned on it underneath "Joe Satriani Online Fan Club" and "Logged in as:" with a white space where you can write your nickname with an indelible ink pen. We hope to hear stories of people meeting up in person at shows, at music stores and on the streets with other fans they've previously only known virtually!

Since we know you're sick of paying $30 for a tshirt at shows, we've managed to cut a deal where we can sell these to you, including shipping, for only $19.98 (in the US only-- folks elsewhere in the world will have to pay a little more shipping).

Currently, only LARGE shirts are available to be ordered, but we expect EXTRA-LARGE shirts to become available *within the week*. Check the site for updates!

To see what the shirts look like, read some answers to frequently asked questions and of course to *order*, visit:

http://www.satriani.com/scripts/genframe?section=merch/member-shirt/

The shirts are put together by Winterland, the same folks who handle Joe's merchandise at shows, and are the same quality. Our friends at Pentagon CDs & Tapes are handling the ordering and fulfillment, and we want to thank them for their support.

TOUR AND AFTERSHOW PHOTO GALLERY CONTINUES TO EXPAND

As the EOC tour made its way through the US, Europe and now heads into South America, fans have been sending us their photos as the guys pass through their town. Check out the tour section and click on the circled (P) to view some live photos as well as pictures of aftershow pass winners backstage with Joe, and fans who waited around to meet with the band on their way out after the show:

WEBCAST WINNER SCHEDULING FOR HIS LESSON WHILE HIS FREE GEAR ARRIVES

The big grand prize winner of the EOC Webcast/Contest a few months back is currently being buried in all of his FREE SWAG that he won-- Ibanez guitars and amps, full Satch discography and tour merchandise-- and details are being arranged to fly him out for his FREE LESSON with Joe after the South American tour dates! Congrats again to Mike Maas from Frankfort, Kansas!

NAPSTER/GNUTELLA/FREENET POLL

Most of you are probably familiar with file sharing applications like Napster, Gnutella, Freenet, etc. Joe is curious what you think about them and how they affect whether you buy albums or not. Vote in this poll and let your voice be heard (and see how it compares to other Satch fans)!

The poll (which will change over time) is available from the home page:

STUUUUUUUUUUUU!! - STU HAMM'S LATEST SOLO RELEASE: OUTBOUND

As if touring around with Joe wasn't enough, Stu's found some spare time to put together a brand new solo album and, seeing as how it also happens to be released on Steve Vai's label, Favored Nations, we felt compelled to clue you in... Here's what they have to say about it:

Bass virtuoso Stu Hamm offers listeners a musical photograph of his life on his fourth solo album, "Outbound" arriving in stores August 22. The recording marks Hammıs first solo album in nine years. Although Hammıs trademark fusion is apparent on such compositions as the title track and the rocking opus 'Tenacity,' Hamm has expanded his sound on "Outbound," incorporating beats provided by the production team, Youth Engine (Rob Zombie, Stroke 9), and touches of urban, techno and trance.

"I did a lot more of the melodies and solos myself this time on the fretless bass," explains Hamm. "I think I trusted myself more on this record. I just had a real vision." With his signature finger taps, hammer-ons and slap techniques, Stu Hamm has revolutionized contemporary bass guitar playing. "I try to get something more emotional, musical and storytelling-wise than just a collection of scales and a technical display of abilities. Thatıs really what this record is about. Itıs about songs and emotions and feelings."

WHAT'S COMING UP...

Yes, yes, yes-- the rumors are correct! The Java chat is indeed finally making progress and an early pre-beta version is available for everyone to try out! (A link is available from the regular chat page). A more formal announcement will be included when it gets further along...

As reported earlier, the EXTRA LARGE online fan t-shirts will be possible to order soon, hopefully within the week!

Preliminary plans are afoot to visit Joe upon his return from the South America tour for a sitdown in front of a video camera for another personal greeting and perhaps more...

More polls will be going up on the home page over the coming weeks. Feel free to suggest some topics on the "Talk To Joe" page!
